How can a father who is concerned about what his kids hear, play and fly with him when you have foul mouth players all over the voice channel?
Just an simple option to turn off the range channel.
If there is one I don't know about someone please tell me.

I'll second that for the same reason.

Buy XBOX for children.:D
Nah... I agree even I have no children.
-
I agree, we outta be able to squelch 3.
-
Hard to imagine anyone disagreeing with this one. Good idea!

I agree, But there is always H2H :) Come to the Bright Side DadDog.... I am your father.! (cherrssss) (Cerrrsrss)

I been asking for this for some time. The mute of the text is one thing. One has to be LOOKING at the scree to be offended by that. With the vox and range channel you have NO option and anyone within the room area is "treated" to the juvinile language. This is a LONG overdue fix. HT PLEASE give us a mute for range vox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Can't you just turn the volume right down in the setup page?
-
but that would be too simple, wouldn't it?
-
Some of us do use the vox for squad and other activities, but that would be too simple to understand I suppose.

Use a headset....

Gypsy, some of us fathers don't care to be inflicted with this childish display of foul language either. There is no reason why we should be inflicted with the immaturity of some player because he has access to a microphone in the game. If you need to spew foul language go somewhere else.
-
we just need a special channel for kids under....(fill in an age) so they wont hear any bad language! :D
-
Easy Solution Change Range Channel To Mission Channel, Or Pick A Text Channel.
I Do It All The Time If I Had To Listen To Range Voices And Squad Voices All The Time I Would Go Insane.
-
I agree with the request, but it is sad because it will make the VOX useless outside of squad ops. This really defeats the purpose of voice communication. It is even more irritating that a minority of foul mouths force the issue.
Ah well, can't count on people's self control so technical and controling systems must be used instead.:(
-
I have not heard any vulgarity on VOX since I got my sound working again with the new computer, not a single diddly, toejam, bigtoe, squeak or anything.... Maybe I just dont fly enough to be online with "those" people.
And yes MT I know, I know....
-
Bendover I like to talk to my squadies. Nor am I the only one with kids who enjoy flying. Talking with squadies is 1/2 the fun. So turning down the volume is not an option. I hope you get to experience that some day.
I also have earphones, (and speakers if I choose). So when my son is flying he has the ear phones on. Once again that does not help the problem.
I will try that jim. I did not know you could! :)
-
Ok jim, how do you do that? I just spent 5 min looking in setup and don't see a way to change what the range channel is set to. It is not under voice or sound...???
Educate me please. :)

I've only been playing in the MA for about 2 weeks, and I've never heard any profanity on VOX. Unfortunately, I'm sure it does exist.
How about the ability to squelch individual users on VOX instead of muting the whole channel? Maybe a .vsquelch command or something. For all I know, the current .squelch command might squelch both text and voice. Never had to use it.
Using text to communicate with teammates is already useless because of the speed the MA text buffer scrolls. Rarely do I look at the text buffer except when i see a system message or I'm bored and autoclimbing. This really only leaves the range channel. It would be a shame if I couldn't communicate with a teammmate (scream for help) because the pilot isn't paying attention to the text buffer and has range VOX muted.
In short, I'd prefer to mute the people that use the profanity, not the whole community.
-
Is it ironic that we play a game celebrating the machinery of war, and the player's ability to "kill" his opponent....and we are worried about our children hearing a naughty word?
Or, is it just me?
-
absolutely agree even though it doesnt bother me personally.(no kids to worry about)
this is a resonable request from a concerned parent, I think its valid too after what ive heard lately on vox. :)
-
U guys are crazy.
If a child can shot down virtual humans then it should be allowed to hear some swearings. If not it shouldnt be allowed to play.
U americans are funny sometimes. U allow children to use firearms and pistols but u not allow them to say bad words ??
So children shouldnt be the cause to squelch 1.

Holy crap!
My sarcasm meter just went off the scale!
As for you, daddog....
Might i surgest Roger Wilco (no, not the crappy game spy version) again, lol;)
-
Given that 90% of the profanities are uttered by 2% of the players, I'd have to vote for a permasquelch for individual illiterates.
My granddaughter likes to fly with TaTa, and I don't particularly like the trash that she's subjected to.
Just my US$.02
-
Daddog,
I know on the squad channel its rough and tuff language, but most folks attempt to watch it on the range channel, But every once in awhile we forget, so the percentage should be very low on the actual numbers of bad mouth sailors:mad:
But remember that when you find someone that is really bad just squelch the cpid and it will also squelch the voice.
You'll just have to forgive us ol' farts that are on are way to hell messing up everyone's perfect life.
-
Agree 100%.
Don't swear on either range or squad channel. Feel no desire to start.
I'd like to have a permanent squelch list for both text and voice. There are certain individuals who I have no intention of hearing or communicating with.
-
We all swear in My squad all the time, I am a construction Worker I have to swear, After doing it often enough it losses it's shock value, anymore to be realy offended I nead an offensive story or scean paited for me.:) Like most things I supose it is what you make of it, how you were raised, ect, some of it is regional, bibble belter's may be more or less offended per capata, then west coasters Or New Yorkers ect.
Inso much as kids are concerned I do agree howeaver that exposing them to this krap on voice is an issue, certainly the Parents should have the means to shield them from it, and If I am corect the abality to do so exist's as listed above.
Voice is a very important tool in Ah, one of the coolest things about the game realy it would indead be a shame to have to have a certain percentage of the comunity tune out, because they cant habdel PG 13 sound tracks.

Hmmm.. not that it's any of your business how we raise our children, but all that is being requested is a game option, not a requirement to shut folks up. Using your argument, maybe we should have nude hoochie koochie dancers having sex on the screen while we play because we are crazy for allowing our children to watch us shoot down virtual airplanes in a game. By the way, in America, we usually don't refer to our children as "it" :D but I'm assuming it was a tranlsation thing.
-
'it' is a unisex thing

Well if we were in Swedan..........

"I am a construction Worker I have to swear" hehe
^bump^
Guess I had it easy my first tour.. I'd missed the field with a goon drop and get a couple laughs in the radio buffer... These days the poor noobs get called "fluff'n idoit you don't drop on the fluff'n field" .. how many times I've heard these rednecks talk like that I can't count.. I agree for a radio toggle.. for the foul mouths and the players starting to call the LA-7 a "la la" .. oh I can't stand that, feel like I'm flying with the Wiggles.
-
All the guyes in my Squad call the La-7, the L-Gay 7:)

Yes that is the best sollution. If people are allowed to squelch range completly they will maybe miss importend information.

Popeye That is it, right there. A game! When my son plays he does not picture (as maybe some of you do) the guts of the pilot you just shot at being splattered all over the cockpit. When you watch football do you celebrate players getting broken ribs, shoulders, legs? How about Archery? You picture a human target? Martial Arts, the maiming and killing? Personally I celebrate and admire the skills and knowledge these athletes have and the virtual pilots skills of ACM and in my son as he grows and learns. I, as you put it, celebrate not the loss of a pretend life, but the skill.
I am asking for a game change, not a behavior change. But that really bothers some of you who are so indignant, but can’t see it.
U guys are crazy.
If a child can shot down virtual humans then it should be allowed to hear some swearings. If not it shouldn’t be allowed to play.

fffreez my son is shooting down a virtual airplane. I gather you picture the human element also. So narrow minded! Put all Americans in the same box. Assume we all raise our children the same way and if we don’t play the way you do then too bad, we should not be allowed to play. You assume we all let our children play with guns so they will grow up to be John Wayne and kill all the bad Indians and anyone else that gets in our way. Yet we are all so pious we can’t see past our nose.
Bottom line is some of you are offended by what you envision as my judgment on your behavior. Yet this post was never about my asking anyone to change, but the choice not to listen to what I deem inappropriate for my children. Never would you lose any rights or privilege in my request, but I would simply gain an option that would allow me not to listen to you. And you are offended by that.
Get a grip.
-
HT. If you decide to add a mute option for RANGE then might I suggest that you have their name CHANGE COLOR on the range list so someone doesn't keep trying in vain to talk to someone on vox? Similar to the AFK color change.
Thank you :D

LMAO
Yup. Thats about the size of it. We're also the same society that lets our kids watch all sorts of blood voilence and gore on TV, in the movies, video games Etc but goes banannas to "protect" our children when the naked human body is shown.
Doesnt make a whole lot of sence to me either But I have no problem with a squelch command for those who desire to have one. At least those people are actually willing to take the responsability of raising their kids into their own hands as opposed to expecting everyone else to do it ,which seems to be the trend over the last 15 years or so So I applaud those who are asking for it.
Myself personally I honestly rarely hear vulgarities on the vox channels and would say from my perspective they are the exeption rather then the norm.
But even when I do it doesnt bother me even when my 6 or 14 Y/O's happen to be around.
Like I said, I see it as the exeption rather then the norm. And I usually hear worse whenever I turn on the TV or go to the store.
so the whole issue for me is neither here nor there
