We are working to finish up 1.11 and get it released as soon as possible. Most of the focus on this version is in quality of gameplay with new additions like side balancing mechanisms and improved smoothing and latency reduction
from the 1.11 info.... been hearin from differant people that HO's are bad, & that it doesnt take mush to get one in.. will that be addressed in 1.11, or is it just a non-issue, personally, it seems like HO's shouls be extremely difficult...but thats jus' MHO.. any info, or is it not that big of a problem?

A HO is like sex. It takes TWO to get involved.
Expect a bunch of responses to this condemning anyone who HOs, HO whiners usually hack tunnel vision when it comes to the subject of their hypocrasy.
I am frightened at the thought of HTC doing something to 'fix' the 'problem' of people doing head-on attacks.

Head on attacks are the best. To me, there is nothing better than seeing some dweeb point right at me, intent on carrying through an HO.
Simply wait untill the last second, pull up hard into an immelman before you pass, and come down on top of said dweeb. Even if he matched my turn, I started it well before he did, and end up with the advantage. If you go head on with someone, and they don't want to take a gunshot with you, you'd better kill them. If you don't you just blew the initiative.
Always remember, It takes TWO to HO. You may run into someone who won't do anything but fly straight at you.(Damn him for not surrendering to you!) If you join in for the gunshot you take your chances. Or you can use thier HO fixation to your advantage.
Never mind that HO attacks are historical. The US Navy F4F's used a maneuver called the thatch weave, which would force repeated HO passes against the japanese zeros who, being outgunned, would be wary of such an attack.
Anyways, whining about any potential fix for Ho attacks, or saying why we shouldn't get one is redundant. It's a bit like the argument about why we shouldn't have an abomb. There is no point to it, since it's not going to happen anyways.

Well I wouldnt go that far but I will never understand those who complain about headons. Seems to me the object is to kill your opponent any way you can. Not to worry about the ethics of how you did it. I headon and get headoned I also kill and get killed by just about every other conceivable way imaginable. thats just the way it is Its certainly no better or worse then those who hang out 5K above you then zooom down to pop you and zoom back up and out of reach if they miss. Or any other way for that matter.
If a plane is comming at you head to head what are you supposed to do, Not take the shot? thats rediculous.
Do not do so is to not take advantage of an opportunity.
Now I dont speciffically look to get a headonshot but when I am faced with a situation where the opportunity for one exists It doesnt bother my conscience in the least to take it reguardless about who whines about it. Sometimes and in certain situations it is and is only going to be the only shot available.
If you can beat it, beat it, Ive done it and had it done and if you do..well more power to ya if you dont, well thats just too bad. But Im certainly not going to hold off taking a shot, headon or otherwise because I am worried about ethics or what Im gonna be called for doing it.
Now I could see the complaint if it were in an agreed upon duel. But in the MA during regular gameplay.. well as we say in the NY/NJ area.. studmuffinEDDABOUTIT

I think HO's are only really a problem for people who are new, or have come from games that didn't allow them. Most veterans know how to easily avoid them, which is often a free card for gaining angles. If I have options (energy) and someone is intent on HO'ing me, I'll use that simply minded purpose to instead initiate a break turn to avoid it, plus it gives me the equivalent to a lead turn and gains me angles on the enemy. All you need to do is build in a little separation, and some difficult angles to the merge and it's unlikely anyone but the best of shots is really going to hit you.

I squelch channel 1 as soon as I log in now, but the typical HO whiner is something like the last guy to complain about my "HO":
I was flying a Mossie and was intercepted by a Tiffie at co-alt dead ahead of me.
He turned to his right so as to pass about 500 yards to my left when at a distance of about 2.5k.
Being that I am in a bomb laden Mossie, and in no way a match for a co-alt, higher-E Tiffe I was going for the HO. It was my best bet. Because of his changed flight path (either a very clumsy attempt to avoid an HO, or he was relying on "honor" for me not to take the shot) it became a front angle deflection shot.
I hit, he exploded and began to whine.
The guy expected me to feed myself to him as a free kill. Obviously in his world when a Mossie encounters a Tiffie, the Mossie owes it to the Tiffie to be an easy kill and not fight back.

HO with 30mm+ is second only to a good vulch and is just barely more fun than killing a chute.

Well, in a word, YES.
Why else would you pay to fly if not to fly the way someone else wants you to fly?

I seem to recall Robert S. Johnson mentioning pointing up on German planes. With his 8 .50's he seemed to like the cooperative German pilot who engaged the HO. HO's were as real as any maneuver so 'fixing' the game to eliminate HO's makes no sense. I personally enjoy the sublte evasive jink and then watching my 6 to for the guy's tracers to see if he thought he had the shot.
