Title: Another newbie question???

What settings do you have your joystick at?
I  feel players are out flying me due to  my  settings.

Are there diffrent settings for bomber, fighter, attacker?
What is the 'best' settings and why?
 
FYI, I  have a 'Wingman Attack2'

The best settings are the ones you're comfortable with.  

IMO the most important settings are good view directions on your HAT switch.  You should be able to look in any direction you need to quickly, and without hesitation or delay.  It needs to become as natural as turning your head, mostly through practice.

Rest assured that you're not being out-flown because of your joystick settings, you're being out-flown because some of these dorks are really whoopee good.  It comes from spending thousands of hours playing.  :eek:

what Innominate said,

BUT..  the correct setting of the damping in joystick settings to stop nose bounce is important for gunnery accuracy as you need a steady target if you want to hit it.

you should also be able to get 18 different views out of your 8 way POV  hat switch and a shift button.

If your stick is the twisty-stick kind it's quite important that you deadband/dampen the rudder controls (found in setup under joystick) or else you end up with a nasty rudder induced bounce when you think you were only rolling.

when setting your stick to reduce nose bounce, which setting do you use? Do you increase the "damping", or do you use the "sliders"?  In that "other game" when you switched to FR you use to pull the sliders into an arc pattern... the 10 would be lowest, the 20 would be a bit higher, and so on till you made an arc with the sliders... or a stairway.  Is that how you do it in AH too? Some screen captures would be nice  :)

I have a stick.cfg file that I found somewhere else.  It works great for getting rid of nose bounce on my MSFF2.  I use rudder pedals but a squaddie who uses the twisty says it works great for him as well.  Put it in your settings file I believe (at work, not in front of my AH pc), but to be sure look for your existing stick.cfg file in the AH directory.  You might want to rename the existing stick.cfg in case you don't like this one.

Don't forget to calibrate your Joystick periodically in Windows, and then enter the game and do the "In Game" calibration as well... It will ensure that you are getting the full deflection of your control surfaces.
