Can someone explain how this works?
http://www.mousevision.com
-
Looks like it picks a point on your head, and then it uses that point to track your movement. I've heard it does not work that well in games such as IL-2 sturmovik when they posted a thread on it. It also talks about using a black cap and a white piece of clothe to help tracking.
For it to work you'd need a high end camera, and for about the same price or a little more you can get a Track IR.

You need to contact Kirin, he's using this. We call it his "Device" and make fun of him a lot about it too ... go on :)
-
So these two products work with Aces High?
-
Kirin said it worked fine for him. I ppointed him to this thread in our squad BBS.

... ouch, - stop pointing me SAW... ;)
Ok, here's what I replied to a friend on the TrackIR issue:
-->
Well, for me TrackIR was one of the best investements I made for my flying
passion. Nothing gets closer to the real thing - especially in IL2.
Pros:
- most immersive, natural way to control views
- faster than pan views, better control than snap views
- very easy to set up (especially with a programable HOTAS)
- no Padlock yes/no discussion anymore
- works best with IL2, a little more work to get it running good with AH
Cons:
- needs some getting used to: 2 hours of training until you get into it
- you can get disorientated quite easily
- a bit "twitchy" - pause it for firing
- for above reason harder to SPOT enemies than with mouse, but once you spotted
them you WONT lose em
- not all sims support mouselook!
- in AH BIG disadvantage because you can't save good (=sidemoved) 6 view
Very good deal there - I got mine for 129USD (euro)! I don't recommend 3D
glasses - they don't work with combat sims (at least not well with AH where
I tried em). Focus is the problem - either you focus cockpit panels, crosshair
- or landscape, planes. You have to switch with keys (= much to slow). Works
best for sims with FLAT 2D cockpit (like MIG Alley) - but even there lots
of gfx artifacts, FPS hit and unrealistic effect (looks like looking into
a box with toy planes flying around)
