Title: 3DNow!/SSE/SMP
Post by: Wormie on July 27, 1999, 07:42:00 PM
Since I am starting to think about getting some new parts for my PC I am wondering if there is any benifit to getting a New Athlon for it's 3D Now! support a PII for it's SSE or getting a Dual CPU setup and Win 2K?

I'm torn between hoping a Celeron with a huge heatsink OC'd to the Max will do just as good as a high end set up and thinking what could they do if 3D Now!/SSE and SMP were supported.

like I am sure you know, you can have dual Celerons as well.

I have a dual PII box, and it's not *that* big difference using just a TNT to play Q3ATest. I guess it could help more if I had a faster card.

I hope AH will be multithreaded. As soon as W2k is established, my guess is that SMP will be the norm. I’m running a dual celeron hack on Slot-1 now, but with the Abit BP6 motherboard out as a cheap dual for PPGA it’s easy and much more affordable.
