LIFTOFF!!

We are pleased to report that a rather quiet and unofficial milestone was reached today when White 1 took to the skies for a brief period during a high speed taxi test. The aircraft reached an altitude of 5 feet Above Ground Level, and was an important first step in our upcoming test flight program.

Unless I'm mistaken I believe this is the result of a group's attempts to build a NEW Me262 based on orginal blueprints, etc. etc.   I would imagine the engines and everything have been modernized for safety.

Did the leading edge slats deploy during this hop?

I worked on that airplane during its construction.  The leading edge slats are always down until the airspeed is high enough to push them back.  They operate via gravity and airloads, through the use of roller bearings in curved slots.
