I'll tell you what I think.
Despite all my squeaking over certain (Flakpansie) aspects of the game :), I think this is the best game ever made. And I've played a lot of them. Just imagine what this game could be like in a year.
In a year (at the latest), we'll have a 'mission theater' where people will be re-creating the WW2 air war 'experience' with as much fidelity as is possible. I think. From what I hear anyway.
In two years, I bet we will have an integrated 'total war' like WW2Online tried to do, except the planes will be good in it instead of some kind of half-baked addon (yea, I tried it when it first came out, and I hear it isn't any better yet). I bet we will have INFANTRY (even if they are the little ugly models that our 'chutes' and goons are now). I bet the Flakpansie will be perked :D, and we will have a GV that is something like the toughness of an Ostwind with the firepower of an M16 (I think that'd be ideal, myself).
We will have maps that have bridges that can be destroyed by friendlies and enemies, creating choke points to stem the advance of a massive Knit/Rook/Bish Horde on the Bish/Knit/Rook homeland. We will have submarines, and God willing we will have some really cool planes like the Ki-84, P-47M, and some hangar queens like the Ki-43 and Ki-44 that nobody but dweebs like me will fly (and even then not to often, cause I'll be to busy squeaking about em). We might also have some REALLY COOL planes like the Sunderland and the Catalina and the Emily. Heck, we might even get some biplanes :).
Just imagine how cool this game will be in two years. Imagine yourself and 4 friends as ugly little infantry models waiting to kill some perked Flakpansies with your Bazookas. Imagine you and your 4 friends little ugly infantry models in a street fight with 5 other enemy ugly little infantry models, with halftracks and tanks acting like mobile 'bunkers'- until some ugly little infantry model climbs up on the second story of a building and pops em with a Bazooka.
Imagine cruising around in a Sunderland, waiting for a periscope to appear near your CV group so you can drop some depth charges on that dummy who is bold enough to bring a SUB to YOUR CV group.
Remember, this game is constantly evolving (sure, I know it seems like it evolves like the dinosaurs sometimes, but rest assured that it IS evolving... really guys, trust me :)). In two years I think this will be a completely different game than it is now. Heck, I've been here for almost two years now, and this is almost a completely different game from the one I started playing.
I guess all I'm saying is have faith in HTC guys, they'll do right by you. Well, most of you anyway :p.

Interesting.
You know what i'd like?
I would like to see Hitech's 1, 2 or 5 year plan.
I assume as a business man, he must have a development plan. I doubt he makes changes and implimentations by the seat of his pants.
I would like to see what HTC's plans are. (I mean long range)
And I don't mean the stuff we read in the articles....like sure he wants subs, etc.
I would like to see what hes thinking, and when he's thinkning of doing it.
I would be willing to give up 1.11 for another 6 months if I knew what was on his mind.

2 years-try 20 years at the current development rate....maybe HT should spend less time developing his Rv6 sim and more on his bread and butter......
-
Oh blow me Wotan... figured we needed some 'positive attitude' to cancel out all the squeaking and whining over this whole money thing.

Because that would be a much more acceptable explanation of your post than the alternative explanation, IE: you were sober and straight when you posted that.
-
you forget one thing. a lot of people aren't paying to "wait"
-
Do you really think all of the things that Urchin listed will be here in 2 years..lol...I hope so. It would be great but lets be real.......If we get the mission arena by next summer we will be lucky....

I only wish that Hitech would be supportive/give insight/updates as to what him and his team are doing more often.
I think that Oleg maddox Has been the model of what a Developer needs to live up to now. The 1C team (IL2) has by far shown the most up to date, on going support for a flight simulation product thus far.
Hitech, could you possibly do what the UBI/1C maddox team are doing with their system of updating the masses of on going development?
I am sure that you already are aware, but for those who are not; A system of updating "whats cooking over in the development side of things" so to say, could be accomplished every Friday and then posted with screen shots, ideas, gameplay progress etc as done in IL2.
Not only does a consistant weekly update of development progress strengthen the current customer base, it also brings in more to look forward to whats in store the next time an update is posted. It really leaves out alot of... "when is it comming out", or "what have you guys been doing" type of questions etc...

I like the part where Oleg stated that he was was going to ditch the xenophobic soviet propaganda flight data that he used and correct them to the standards that HiTech and his crew used,,,the real thing. But living in a society built on disinformation that may not happen.

It is hilarious that you actually think that because something isn't "American" it must not be factual.
Tell me ygsmilo, have you always been as misinformed/ignorant as you seem to come across, or have you just started working on it?
Run along now, play baseball and eat some good'ole american apple pie now.

Quick Milo!

Sure you don't want to throw that minnow back?

Well there was nothing here 2 1/2 years ago.
We've come along way from there.
Ya know 28sweep, you could be America's answer to its farming problems - a perpetual supply of BS to fertilize the crops with :D

My wish list starts with multiple monitor support. Screens seem to be topping out at 1600x1200 or so and 19" monitors are cheap (£100 now). I don't see super-massive high resolution LCD displays being cheaply available in the timeframe. I'd like to have things like the map, the chat bar etc on one monitor and AH on at least one other, preferably three (front, left, and right) others. Anything to help my SA. Imagine your 4 GHz AMD Opteron driving all this. You can do it in MSFS2002 and Matrox says it works in MSCFS3. This will probably require a rewrite of the graphics engine, though.
I would like to see the graphics engine updated to allow better terrain and a higher polygon count. The nicer the view the better. Someone mentioned flying under a bridge: wouldn't it be cool if you dropped a bridge and a GV or train driving over fell off? Or were underneath and damaged by falling masonry.
Next on my list is tightening up the network code: requiring so many ports to be open is, to me as an IT professional, inelegant.
But uppermost on my list is MORE FUN.

Toad and Ygsmilo, you can't deny the level of interaction that HTC has with it's customer base as compared to Oleg and IL2 now can you?
Next time, instead of casting for fish, come with an answer rather than empty dribble. No need to type when you Don't have anything to actually say. ;)

Multimonitors is so 20th century, get with the program ...

(btw I believe AH would work natively as the tracker operates as a Directinput device and AH allows directinput mapping to view inputs).
