Title: Arming distances for rockets...or not?

I dont seem to have a problem with US or Brit rockets but when I fire German 21cm rockets they just dont seem to explode. Is this a bug on my end or do I need to be farther away from my target? If so then how far?

5" rockets are way overmodeld. No need for 21cm rockets for attacking ground targets.

They're meant for destroying heavy bombers, but they take a lot of practice to use correctly and effectively.  Their purpose is so specialized that very few people take the time to master them.  How many times have you upped a fighter for the sole purpose of buff hunting? Buffs are pretty sparse now, so the 21 cm rockets often go unused.

Still, I've heard that when used to maximum effectiveness, a pair of those rockets will destroy an entire formation at once.

i think the range is 1.4-1.5 ish

if you want to check type  

.target 1400

when you are flying (a target will appear to the north of you at d1.4. fire a rocket at it if the rocket goes through it and explodes on the other side increase distance to  .target 1500 and repeat.

do this until you see the puff on or just infront of the target.

this will also show you how much elevation you need to use when you fire one.
