I've had it since I got out of my car today. 4 hours now. I'm fine sitting down, I stand up, total vertigo. Weird! (Hold the "You sure are DIZZY!" jokes please :) )
-
Just when reading your posts...
But seriously, May be an inner ear infection.
-
...or a brain tumor. I call dibs on Rip's stick and pedals.
-
Did I forget to put a :) in that last post?
How's your blood pressure? If it's low, you can get dizzy when you stand up. We can get Creamo in here to get your blood pressure back up.
Seriously, if it keeps up, you should get it checked out.
-
If you've had it for 4 hours go see a doc. It will probably pass but it could be something bad.
-
I've got dibbs on the BMW !!
:)

Top of the St. Louis Arch looking straight down... never ever got the same feeling in an aircraft. It was unsettling.
-
yeah, could be anything from a bad diet to a brain tumor. Anything new affecting your vision or balance merits medical attention.
Standing up/sitting down. Heh. Check your pulse. It's probably orthostatic. Low BP?
-
I think what myelo said is right. If it changes with posture then it's probably low blood pressure. Maybe you are just too fit.
-
What I just said. Measure your pulse sitting and standing. If your pulse is significantly faster standing, do a web a search on "orthostatic tachycardia".

That sounds like an ear infection to me.
I get them all the time- busted both eardrums while performing a bad dive from a 3-meter board. I get ear infections all the time, as the ears never really healed properly. Matter of fact, I have one now! Running is really interesting when you have one, too... gotta keep that head upright and not swivel too much...
-
I sometimes get that same feeling when I have a bad sinus infection. I almost fell over walking down the hall earlier this year. :)
Do you feel fine otherwise, Rip?
-
Rip, I had this yesterday also, stand up, move my head to fast and wham dizzy...
Wife says ear infection. I say pressure in my sinuses, I was a little conjested yesterday. Also a little dehydrated.
Drink plenty of water.

I had labyrinthitis (inner ear problem)(sp?) on and off for about seven years and it was at its most severe for a constant four months. It made me change my career, it induced stress because there were times I couldn't even stand up! :( During these four months I had a headache the entire time too! :( This actually got me back into flight sims because at the time I couldn't play any Quake style game because it made my condition worse. I'm still rather wary about playing anything like Quake incase it brings it on again although I have been relatively clear for the past 3 or 4 years.
Not a nice experience though, eyes shimmer, you fall over and usually end up bashing your head against something! Ouch! :(
So yeah, I know what vertigo is like! Only tip I can give is sit or lay down! :) It's most probably some flu or cold going around and it's inflamed the canals between your ears and nose/eyes etc., affecting your balance.
