Title: Rude says.............
Post by: Rude on December 05, 2002, 12:15:34 PM
talk is cheap!

All the whining about the Bishops lacking talent...only able to fly in hordes...no skill dweebs....bla bla bla.

So, I propose the following........

The Rooks and Knits collectively, select their top six pilots.....they meet the Bishes top six in the DA.

I guarantee the Bishops will not only beat the combined elite of the Rooks and Knits, but do it easily.

Rules of Engagement are simple....guns hot on the merge....fly what you want to, loaded out as you want as well. Merge alt at 1k...don't want to give anyone a place to run to.

Or would it be too tough for you girls to handle being whipped by lemmings?

What ya think?

So... 6 'best bishops' and against 6 'best knights' AND 6 'best rooks'?  I don't think they'd win...

Hehehehe.....whenever, wherever  :)

Still, this is not the point. Replace 6 with 30, to elliminate the "elite" effect. Lemmings will lose.

Cheers,

That would not be fair, everyone knows that the Bich only skill is in numbers, but since there are so many of them, there's bound to be 1-5 of them with reasonable skill.  A more fair fight and a more correct simulation of the MA would be to see who wins between 10 randomly picked bish against 2 randomly picked knights and 2 randomly picked rooks.

Negative....the talent pool is rookland and knitland of which only 6 pilots would be chosen to duel the Bishops best six...got it?

The rest of you guys try not to dance around the challenge with cheap talk....let's get down to the bootyack, legum up and smackum yackum!!!

Will ya do it or flap your lips....ain't skeerd of lemmings, are ya boys?

Heheheh....glad to see lemmings exercising his only talent....NUMBERS.

Having the most numerous gene pool, still they refuse a fair and average contest by cutting numbers, and seek shelter on their elite.

Rude....perhaps lemmings are scared about the average lemming's talent? :D

What would that prove Rude?

The bish have some of the best pilots in the game. They also have most of the worst pilots in the game.

Both the Rooks and Knights are more rounded with a mor even distribution of good/med/bad pilots.

If you take the 6 worst pilots from the bish and the 6 worst from the rooks/nits the rook/nits would probably win.  But that proves nothing either.

The truth is, the median bish pilot is absolutely horible.  There's empirical evidence supporting this.  I challenge you to prove otherwise.

The only thing the bish have going for them is their participation in missions, and a spectacular bandwagon mentality (not to be confused with *teamwork*)

Just as I thought...buncha excuse makin, cheap talkin whiners!

Ever occur to you rooks and knits that perhaps the reason we have superior numbers, is that folks prefer to hang with happy fun lovin players rather than Whiney Whiners(the worst kind of whiners)?

Im confused here... when did Bish get to be the country everyone rags on for having numbers?  Since I started playing Knights have always had numbers - and a huge advantage at that.  Lately the numbers have been better - but the Bish havent had a decided numbers advantage for more than a few days in a LONG time.

Oh and for this little challenge - I think its a great idea Rude - forget the top 6 "overall" pilots - each country should grab their top 6 "fighter" pilots... hell... lets make it top 15 (I want in on this too) and hopefully we wont hear the Knights whine anymore... (rooks are allowed to whine, I have pity for them)

C'mon, guys. You can't be so soft-skinned!

I've been called Crook, Dweeb, now dork....without denying the truth that may be lying behind, I want (wish) to thing we are just continuing our MA usual playing.

As many others had posted (DjV comes to mind) every country has it fair share of nice people, dweebs, newbies, etc. etc.....denying this would be absoultely blind. Nothing against trying to hit other country's nerves, on my book.

I am ready to stop with my usual Bish mantra if you guys say seriously you are getting p*ssed off by it. I don't want to think you are so sensitive, tho.

Oh...just for the maths sake, IF we agree all countries have roughqly equal share of stereotypes....Bish overwhelm the absolute quota of them!  :D

Bishop have had the numbers consistently since I started flying here in February.  I was Bish by default but jumped to Knight because there were too many Bish pilots already.

Bish numbers fell off, and the balance equalized overall, when the AKs jumped from Bish to Rook.  Then HTC announced the contest and the Bish numbers went back up... and the AKs are now back in Bishland again.  Not that there's anything wrong with that - heck I may jump back to Bishop land again too.

But when a group of Bishop pilots start squawking about how good they are ... well, that has about as much value as a Mardi Gras coin.  Wait - check that.  A Mardi Gras coin has more value because chicks will lift their shirts for the coin but I don't think they'd do it for some false Bishop bravado.

Hey shamus, if you want a challenge, try flying Rooks for a month.  Those guys hardly ever get a break.  Knights numbers seem to fluctuate during the weeknight, but reach their peak on weekends around midnight Eastern.  Sometimes I'm the giver, and sometimes I'm the receiver.  Kinda makes it more challenging that way.

I'd join Rude's fly-off challenge, but I think a gv duel wasn't what was intended.

I'll tell what happened Sand, the small coalition of rooks has been disbanded.

the large majority went Bish especially after the "GMoney" Tourney has started...

Bish tactics have been notorious since the beta days of Torque.  If your new to this then now you know...  The bish were first to employ the horde f4C tactics forcing HT to perk them....

Now the latest in bish war technology has upped the scales with the TSA, Tiffie Suicide Attack....  (F4C replacement without perks.)

see when the cheese is so abundent you open yourself for mass text attack...  You sir are personally not hated just the horde and its fabled high command.....

Wow, I always wondered why the F4UC was perked but the Typhoon wasn't. They seem pretty similar in handling, but with the F4UC having greater bomb capacity.

This isn't whinning. We're trash talking. It's a male cockiness bahaviour of saying "My sexual organ is bigger than yours". Then we climb into our aptly named cockpits and try to prove it without actually pulling our pants down and using a yard stick - or in case of the bish, an electron microscope.

... used to fly for Bish, back when I first started.  The people sucked, the Bish had numbers, the Knights were in the hole.  Joined Knights.  The people sucked, then the Knights had numbers, Rooks were in the hole.

A long while later, I joined the Rooks.  The people still suck, although the numbers is becoming less lopsided.

There isn't a difference in the teams.  Sorry to bust yer bubble guys.

gofaster, I have been a bish for three years now, and in that time the bish have been in the barrel many times..well adjusted folk learn to deal with it and know that it will change :)

And BTW the only time I ever flew for another country was rook a few weeks ago when they were horrendously outnumered.

If youre suggesting that people went back to Bish because of the contest - youre dead wrong.  The AK's have been Bish for 2-3 weeks now.

In addition - in the MA last night the Kniggits had a 25-30 advantage on Bishops and the Rooks had a 30-40 advantage on Bishops.  I wish I would have taken a screenshot.

I just find it almost laughable that a Kniggit is whinng about numbers... anyone who's been here for more than 6 months is well aware of the reality of the numbers issue.

Either way, Ive flown with the Rooks on occasion and find the vast majority of them to be great people.  The numbers disadvantage didnt effect me in the slightest - flying with Manx and the boys from Nazgul I had some of my best sorties to date.  I gather that if there is a problem with players dying because of a numbers advantage - those players need to rethink whether or not diving into 10 cons in a good idea.

Yo, check it out.

AKs were Bishop, then jumped to Rook to balance out the play, then jumped back to Bishop.  I ain't saying they did it for the contest, but its obvious that they were tired of getting the short end of the stick in Rookland and wanted to go back to their motherland where their support was.  Nothing wrong with that.

Numbers fluctuate based on day and time.  Unfortunately, from 5pm to 11pm Eastern US, the Bishops have a nice numbers advantage Monday through Friday, which is when I do most of my flying.  Yesterday morning I logged on in time to watch the last 4 Knight bases get crushed by the Bishops from the south in the NDIsles map and last night I logged on in time to watch the Knights mainland get crushed by Rook offenses in the north in the Baltic map.  The MAWs were trying to keep Knightland alive by capturing non-strategic bases in the south, but that was a delaying tactic because the Rooks had surrounded our HQ and radar.  Bishops had the players numbers advantage for 3 hours last night and they still never caught up to the Rooks (way to go, Rooks!).  Rooks didn't start getting a numbers advantage until it was clear who had the best shot at winning the map.

Anyway, I'm hijacking this thread and giving a shout out to the Rooks for a successful victory in the Baltic.  They managed to keep pressure up on 4 bases in the west and 4 bases in the east at the same time without bunching up too thickly on just 2 or 3 bases like lemmings. The Bishops were active from the 4 southwestern bases but they were mostly just nuisance raids across the water (except for the bloodbaths at A2 and A1). The Knights were swarming in defense in the south but couldn't stop the Rooks in the north from seizing the Knightland homeworld.

As for diving into a crowd - when all 4 of your bases are capped, you kinda don't have much choice. :p

Scandalous!

I guess the Bishops finally got tired of the Knight nuisance to the west and brought their forces over.

Rooks had us on the ropes all night, too.  Did the Knights manage to get their HQ back?

Just to set the record straight, the AKs went rook to balance the numbers.  The problem was that several other squadrons swapped sides for similar reasons.  After 2-3 weeks on rooks, we were noticing that rooks were outnumbering by a HUGE amount (lots of good Samaritans I guess) so we went back to bish.  There hasn't been a lot of that lately because the numbers aren't nearly as bad as they were when we went rook.

I'll be right there (again) as soon as I get back from my trip next week!

What time do the Typhoon missions start?  I haven't flown one in awhile so I may need some wingmen to escort me until I get the hang of the flight model.  Maybe for the first few captures, I should just concentrate on rocketing the vh and shooting up the town, then circling off at a distance until the goons come in.

so 6 bishops who fly together often, (more likely rudes own squad?) versus 3 knits and 3 rooks who have never flown together.

totally favours the 6 who fly together.

bish have the most players and therefore more likely to have the top flyers in individual stats. but also have a poor overall standard for the reason that newbies join the biggest country.

take 10 random bish and make them jabo a base to see how many actually survive.Id suspect 2 will live the rest will die in the dive. :D

Shame on you for not being nice. Ya see? It's that very meenie attitude which precludes those with character, good looks and an overall successful attitude from joining your country.:)

bah rude lets just admit it, we couldnt predict the results in a month of sundays! :)

theres such a huge variety of skills in the MA its likely one of the 10 would fly to the wrong base or not get off the ground at all :)

(ps did i tell you they had to fly 202's?? :))

I started flying Knights but some how it changed me to Rook after I was in a tower when it was captured.

I enjoyed flying with the Knights more than I have with the Rooks but these guys are OK I just don't get the check 6 calls that the Knights gave me.

I haven't flown Bish yet but I figure I should give them a try. All I can say about them is they die well!:)

As for the Numbers well 1 night I saw Knights with with 200 people on while the other sides had 150 combined but for the rest of the days Bish has had the numbers.

I've only been here about 3 weeks but from what I've seen Bish DO normally outnumber everyone else.

Skill? All sides seem to be able to kill me so who can say.

Finding out who would be the six best pilots from each team would be tough to do. It would be interesting though, I'd like to see which side would come out on top.

Another matchup I'd like to see is X-AW's vs X-FA's vs X-WB's.

I'm ok being called a lemming as well....just as long as this lemming has fun flyin AH...maybe that's whats wrong with some of you...you're just tired of AH and need to find another diversion?

No Rude, we all just need to switch to Bish, because it is so much more fun there. Makes me kinda of wonder who will be left to fight against,
