No other way i can put it nicely fellas, but enuf is enuf. :(
Autoretract flaps... nothing done about them. :( :(
The one plane that lives by their flaps and they get screwed in a fight because flaps retract on their own making the plane either spin or lose manouverability just because the speed ticker hits an exact speed mark (250) even though the 38 is pulling nose up or pulling a tight turn and that speed is only achieved for a split second.
Please remove the autoretract function for the 38, the flaps neither folded up on their own by automation nor by windforce, the 38 had locks to prevent deployment past 250mph, but if they were deployed, they stayed deployed until retracted by the pilot. Rip them off at 300mph for all I care, just dont make them retract.
No new 38 models...when almost every other plane has them. :( :( :(

This since I can remember being in AH.
Only fix i remember on the plane was the uberweak tail/1-shot-dead-engines issue, and it seems it took the 190 folks to pitch in to get this looked at, as their engine also died to a single hit back then. :confused:

To the above poster, the "J" model of the 38 was lighter and faster than the "L" model. Id like a J.
The earlier variants would be nice to have, just for the same reasons we have spit 1 and V and 109 E and F's and early & late zero & 'cats. :D

There are more planes that suffer from the same flap issue, the 109 is one of them. It should be able to use it flaps in 220 mph, as it is now max speed is 160 which means it can't use flaps at all in 95% of the turns fights.
Last time I asked HT/PYRO about it there was a clear NO to fixing this as they would have to modell flaps being dammaged if overspeed.

HTC is this true just in the way Wotan said it? If the Bf109 can use flaps up to 220mph and you are not modeling it now, how come you model P51 and F4U flaps at speeds much higher than that and they have no overspeed damage- they just auto retract at maximum allowed speed?

No GUNERZER it is not true. 2 Questions are being mixed with 1 answere.
On the auto retract flaps question, it seems to me that everone who wants to get rid of auto retract flaps wan'ts flaps at faster speeds. If we were to get rid of the auto retract flaps the only difference would be ,instead of retracting the flap it would be damaged and unsible at the same speed they auto retract now.
The other questions is on a specific planes flap speed, they are set on a per plane basis with the data we have availble.

May I suggest that since it appears your data reflects the "safe" deployment speeds, maybe we could have the flaps be deployed only at or below those speed, BUT have the autoretract feature kick in 50 or 80 mph above said "safe" deployment speed?

Grunherz, 109's could deploy flaps at 160mph and bellow, it could have them deployed at 220mph and bellow though. It could not extend them at more then 160 mph.

After speaking to a couple of mechanics from WWII, there was no such thing as auto retract flaps on 99% of planes. So, for the sake of realism remove them and model damage if used improperly. :)

Generally in AW if you started a steep dive with flaps down, the plane would pull hard negative Gs, triggering a super red-out usually followed by an auger. The flaps would never become damaged. You are thinking of FA or something.
Anyway, I like it the way it is in AH.
