Wow how many boards do you spam on, fanboy?
-
I'd love to try ww2online. I really would.
However I'm not going to pay to try a game which has had nothing but lukewarm reviews.
-
Wow.
They're getting the Spitfire Mk Vb, Hurricane Mk IIc and Bf109F-4.
Amazing. I wonder when AH will get those aircraft?
(I wouldn't mind a D.520 in AH, but I think it is a reasonably low priority)
-
Prolly more than a fanboy. I flew with Hatch and Mo as trainers in warbirds for 4 years. Watched Killer et al take a leap of faith and started ww2ol. Been a beta tester since the first release in June 2000. It really is getting better all the time..last review I saw that had any validity was a UK publication and they gave it a 70%. PC Games, I think. That was 4 updates ago and no one has done one with the new graphic and sounds, attrition etc. Everything is attritable now. You can always d/l the full install and try it offline. I hope they will have another freebie time to come in and check out this last update.
Karnack..is that tongue in cheek?..The War Set is moving toward 1941. WB and AH have a larger base of ac, but in time, who knows.

This is the fanboy police. We have you Surrounded. Put the pom poms down slowly and lie face down on the ground with your hands on your head. :D

A reasonably inoffensive post that might be of interest to WW2 gamers and ACM enthusiasts.
Just a pair of unobtrusive links without much hype.
Heck, he never even mentioned "blade element theory".
No need to kick him around.
I wish WW2OL success. I wish anyone working on WW2 air combat games success. I just don't think thery're there yet.
Still, they like what I like. The more flavors I have from which to choose, the better.

Awwwwwwww you're no fun anymore, Toad ;)

WW2OL must really suck bad if they gotta send their little squeakes to other game sites and try and beg players to come try it.
Thanks for the warning Hardcase, I will avoid it like the toejamty plague it must be.

BURN THE WITCH!!! :D

Exactly how many players play WW2ol at any one time. It's been kinda hard to tell since they removed the counter after it was discovered they were adding 1000 to it.....
-
Ok hard.. that's all well and good but what's yur excuse for hangin out with that drunken blowhard doc doom? And... if they are so smart why did they hire him?

i found it a pleasant informative post. still pissed at them for the beta fiasco and about 100 wasted hours of my time and having to eat crow after saying they were gonna be great . but im trying the next freeby.
-
First I wasnt sent, second I am not your or anyone's squeak. If that is the best post you can come up with, you must be about 15 and just discovering whacking off. My guess is that you have never played it and that you just want disperately to be in what you perceive to be the in crowd. Since you profess to avoid it, you probably won't be missed. Next time try some intellect behind your post, otherwise you are a waste of space.
BTW with Mac people coming in and ppl coming from wb and ah and some ppl coming back, it seems to be doing quite well, despite your wishful hope it fails.
My Pom Poms were'nt loaded, I swear

wwiiol is still around?

I'm pretty happy to see a D520 introduced with the spit Vb and the 109F
what a sad joke :(
-
WW2LOL :D
-
d520 is part of the '40 plane set, but I agree it woulda been nice to have it early on. The rest are the 41 set. Kieran, that joke woulda worked well a year ago, but it has progressed beyond that luanch.
Keiran has played it and likes to lonewolf and has no fun but hasnt played it since 1.70-1.72 with the graphic and sound to dx8.1 fixes. He would enjoy if if he did some squad stuff, but furballs are getting bigger as ppl fps increase during them.
. Odepus has a p3-600 and has basic FPS problems.
BTW I was content to just post the info..so lets blame this on Dago.
500.. Dare we dream?:D

Hard I gave it shot around June. Has there been the talked about graphics upgrade since then ?
I did the groundpounder stuff and enjoyed it. The plane stuff sucked but that isn't why I went there in the first place.
What has changed since June ??

Threads propigate because people continue to reply. No one would have though less of you for just posting the info and clamming up about any inane replies.

Poopster, versioin 1.70 was upgraded to demand dx8.1, T&L was implemented, voodoo 3 and below dont run well at all. Takes at least 32 megs on the videocard. It looks better, runs better, plays better has a few more vehicles. Full attrition is implemented
They tested a new netcode for a while and everyone notice big improvements, but even with the old code things are going well. XP may have a problem, a memory leak may be there eating their VM up, not all using xp report the problem. Seems to happen after several hours of gameplay. I havent seen it but I run win98se. Grab the download and try it offline. Gonna lobby for a free 2 week period for ppl to check it out.
This is Dago's fault:D

Attrition..is full now, everything has limits. we ran Antwerp Air completely out of AC. You get you vehicle back to a friendly area, it goes back in the pool. Die and it is eliminated for at least an hour.

you still haven't explained doomie.

Doc came with the caveat, everyone has to ignore the Man Behind the Curtain. OZ must be a very strange land.

Wow - were they really doing that?
-
I never heard they were adding numbers, why would they? Another piece of urban legend? Point me toward that info, would like to see the source.
HC

I might like it now, I dunno. Maybe I will try again around Christmas- we'll see. If the D.520 makes it, I will really try.
As for adding numbers, that comes from the WWIIOL BBS itself. The thread is almost a year old now, and I can't recall exactly how it was extrapolated, but it seemed a supportable concept. All I remember for sure was there were few fights to be found despite the numbers posted on the login. And yes, I do know how to find the numbers and the big fights... ;)

The irony of that post and this one is great.

I'll ask MO about it, but knowing some rats I don't think they would do that. Was there speculation they did? I don't doubt it. Was it true, that I doubt.

how are they moving on to 41 when the BoF is fediddleed?
Just a another gimmick like the last update.
You will playing in France still into 1941????
Game just keeps getting worse and worse
-
Might be playing in france in 45. A map, the vehicles and hindsight is the game. When was the last time you played since you think it is not improving? I feel 500 coming on
HC
-
last week nothing got better from from time before that.
I guess the different theater idea has been scrapped then?
I rather 41 in the med the pissing back and and forth over the same map. Atleast get the eyeties in the game........
Oh and a ju88.........................
I bet you will tell me........... New theaters will come eventually la la la..............
BTW its still a pos :p
-
You think because the BOF was over by 1941 that nothing can go into 41? Hasnt been scrapped. You fly over the same map every day in AH. When they build the MED, if towns are still free in France the battle will still go on in France and Africa. If you dont think it got better with 1.7, we just have no meeting of the minds.

Hardcase,
It was courteous of you to stop by and keep us informed about WW2OL.
IMO personal opinion though, you're not helping either that game or yourself here right now. The discourse is degenerating and getting far from your original intent I suspect.
Do as you like; just wanted you to be aware that there are others that think "no one would have thought the less of you" as SOB pointed out.
-
How many resets have their been in wwiiol? You just reset the map you dont move on to BoB med or anything.......
So what you will end end up with is 41 aircraft vehicles in the same arena with the vehicles that are there now but most likely they will be limited.
But its unclear to me in this statement on whether they go with a wholy '41 set up or just add '41 era vehicles into play with what is available currently.
With the last two patches to v1.7 we have been using the rolling map that we talked about earlier this year. Bringing the server down and back up with a stable map is important both for being able to patch without resetting the map as well as changing spawn lists without resetting the map. At this time we plan to introduce the 1941 vehicles on a set time after the beginning of a new map. That time will likely be between 4 and 6 weeks. Once the map has been live for that period we will bring the servers down and adjust the spawn lists to accommodate the new vehicles, making changes to the available numbers and favoring the new vehicles over the old. We are working to be able to change the spawn lists without bringing the server down but will not likely have that functionality right away. We’ll post more about this as we get closer to launching the 1941 set. You can also expect some drastic changes to this whole system once we begin implementing the RPG layer and Deployment. Look for future posts in this forum on both of those topics.
But I am too lazy and generally dont care what they do.
Aces High rotates maps after every reset. We have a series of historical and "fantasy" type maps. In our combat theater we have a ton of maps that rotate out weekly. But Aces High isnt a "World War II simulation". World War II online. Has very little to do with WW2. Except for vehicle names and town names. Aces High doesnt pretend it to be WW2.
1.7 looks marginally better but its still the same game.
As for a "meeting of the minds", well that aint ganna happen over WWIIOL and the news you linked make it even less likely in the future.
-
Damn, I forgot about this thread, would have jumped back in again if my young mind had remembered it sooner. It came back to my feeble mind after seeing hardcases follow up attempt to recruit people away from AH.
hey, maybe I will try WW2OL. Gives me goosebumps all over just thinking about it. But wait, on second thought, maybe all those guys who were swearing about what a waste of money it was knew something I didnt? :)
Thanks hardcase, baiting you is the most fun I have had in a long while.

Why are they adding more planes when the basic strat isn't in there? Where are the factories and supply trains, trucks and depots? Those things were show cased...oooh... errr... 2 years ago? And we are still waiting.
The crosshair thing with the infantry is still a POS. Why don't they make it like a proper FPS and just allow the proportional movement in the game. Other than that, it adds nothing new to infantry FPS (DoD had stamina modelled long before WW2OL was released) apart from the iron sighted shooting, which I like.
