Title: get real sounds for AH hitech!
Post by: Ike 2K# on December 08, 2002, 01:21:16 PM
im not happy with original sounds because...

1. the engine start sound is shared by other planes.
2. same as engine shut-off.
3. and so as the engine running

If you play Combat Flight Simulator 2 or 3, you will notice that sounds for every planes are different like the engines and gun sounds.

I wonder if "Hitech" can ask Microsoft to borrow engine and gun sounds for zeroes, corsairs, spits,109s,fw190, and 262 from cobat flight simulator 2 and 3?

I'd like to see Hitech and Co to continue on more pressing features and fixes for AH whilst people like Mitsu churn out great sounding add-on sounds for AH. You can download Mitsu's sounds here (http://mitsu.devimg.com/msc/index_e.htm) I'd highly recommend you do as they add a new dimension to AH.

For those who plyed combat flight simulator 1, 2 and 3 before they moved to Aces High, i highly recomend to move A6m2, A6M5, corsair, hellcat, N1K2-J, wildcat, Spits, hurrs, 109s,190s, 262s engine sounds to AH. Also, go search for gun sounds like the .303s and .50 cals from netwings.com or other websites that has gun sounds for  combat flight simulator 1,2, and 3 (they also work for aces high).

Bah, he is simply stating the fact that the sounds available in the normal AH download are, by the standards of any current game, utterly pitiful.     Whether HTC's resources are better spent on other matters is debatable and, in the end, strictly their call.

Far from being arrogant, I think he's merely stating the obvious--sound is one department in which AH is definately lacking, especially when compared to other modern flightsims.

does he know abour mitsus sounds?

does he know he can add any sounds he likes to the game?

when was the last time he could do this to his favourite game?

I think as AH stands its a great compromise, you have slightly dull sounds but a small base download. The bigger the download for AH the less people will download it to try it out.Once you have tried AH and like it theres plenty you can do to improve it.
Either load up mitsus soundpack or even better try making your own adjustments.

I have man of my own sounds as well as mitsus and i enjoy adding any new sounds i find appealing.

I think its great as it is,anyhow thas how i feel

He doesn't know the answers to any of these questions and he doesn't care to ask them to find out before opening his fat yap.

True, I just downloaded the first patch I think and I just use that, its nice because you don't have to update it.

i downloaded mitsus's 20mb sounds for AH and did some mods like changing engine sounds and flaps sounds on p-51D. I also changed the 303 browning sounds by replacing it with .30 vickers (those are for combat flight simulator 1,2, and 3 but they work for AH)

Ike 2k#,

It is a statistically known fact that the larger the download the less likely somebody is to download it on a whim.

In addition to that is the fact that bandwidth costs money. You haven't been around long enough to see the mayhem that happens when a new version is released. When v1.11 is released the limits of HTC's bandwidth will be very apparent to you. Adding in Mitsu's soundpack would close to double the bandwidth requirement.

You see, the player's bandwidth is not the whole picture.
