Instead of top 15 score potatos, how about you give some cash to Mitsu and Nuttz and others that actually are advancing the game instead of hindering it. Just a thought
-
Good thought Pfunk!
Thats where i would like to see my money go as well, but thats not my decision ;)
-
thank you but no thanks, I only want more Japanese Imperial Army Air Force planes in Aces High (and some IJNAF plans) instead of $$$. :D
P.S
I am the Japan plane whiner. :p *g*

I was thinking...I'd like to see each country have it's own carrier type, ex:
Bishops: Current Essex style
Knights: Soryu style
Rooks: Graf Zeppelin
Just a thought. Would ease identification for bombers looking for enemy fleets, especially if a country were to lose it's 'dar...

Absolutely Pfunk, give Mitsu that money--whether he wants it or not. Or, give him what he wants with his preferred plane set. Seems only fair after all the work he's put in, and how much better he's made the whole experience for so many of us.
Just one of a million better uses for this prize money that we could probably all come up with.

Free account for Mitsu :)

Thanx for thinking of me:) But there are MANY others that help and have helped in AH. Also HTC and crew HAVE shown their appreciation to me in many ways.
NUTTZ

My vote is for Pokie... a guy who has superhuman patience, a guy who has helped absolutely everyone who has ever opened the Terrain Editor, whether it's the newbie who refuses to read the answers from the 30 previous posts, right up to the hardcore veteran users.
$$ or not, we owe him an enormous
Pokie!

just perk the lot of them. ;) :D

That would be neat, but not with a ship that was never finished.
The Royal Navy operated many fleet carriers in WWII and one of them would be a far better choice than a German hulk. Say, the HMS Ark Royal or HMS Indefatigable.
Now, convincing HTC that it is worth the effort required is another thing.

I agree
my opinion is:
the most beneficial effect giving prizes to top dwebs is to give a goal to new players to keep playing and get better. the current top 15 dweebs are such ah addicts and junkies that most probably have their ah acount prepayed for years to come and the money given to these dweebs is just to entice others to keep playing and become uber dweebs.
giving rewards to top 15 dweebs is a nice event, but it should be a one time thing used as a marketing ploy to help htc customer base. they (myself included) by making hi scores do not make the same contribution to the game that people like the map makers (nuttz 10bears and others), the sound makers (mitsu and akwabbit), the event coordinaters (to many to mention).
they do contribute though. the difficulty of the game is based on the skill of the opponents you face. the more skilled they are the more exciting and rewarding it is when you defeat them.
when i get killed i know the person killing me enjoyed it. i know i enjoy defeating well skilled players with one exception: a well executed bounce on a player that does not see you is still one of the most fun victories in the game because they are rare.
but HTC knows what they are doing. if it is good or bad it is for each player to decide and for HTC to see the results be it good or bad. HTC isnt afraid to try new stuff and see what happens, thats what keeps this game interesting.
my own observation is I've noticed a new effect of this contest in the MA in the way the game is played.
the amount of p51s la7s 109g10s and fast plane usage has gone through the roof. top ten players kill/death ratios are doubled skillful bomber pilots are destroying strategic targets with uncanny tenacity. basically the behavioral effect is HT's contest is making players want to play the game the way ht wants them to or in theory the way the score system was designed was to rank players who played all aspects of the game well.
now the question is:
is it more fun?
for the old players who have been playing this game since the begining the new difficulty level is a nice challenge. most are flying at their best and the virtual sky is much more dangerous and much more difficult to survive and get kills in. the new difficulty is nice but the diminished variety of planes being used is the consequence. oh they all still get used but you see the fast planes now more than ever.
but what of the new players this contest may bring in?
they may like the prizes for flying well but this is a hard game and lets face it most of the top dweebs have been around a while to get over the learning curve. will they get discouraged due to the added difficulty of flying and getting kills in the arena? will they keep at it for the money?
most play for the fun level. if it is an enjoyable experience they will stay around money or no money.

BTW Why have to wings when u only need one?
Bring the Me410 to AH
-
cuz 2 wings look cooler & you can fly circles around a val or hurri1!!!! :D
Oh citabria = fester? gets confusing when people change their names :)
-
agree on the cheaper accounts or free for those who make the game more fun.
without mitsu's sounds...it just wouldn't be the same.....those la5 20mm sounds like a hammer hittin steel..... its SO awesome....every time i pull the trigger i get goose bumps :p

Just to clear cajun up and not hi-jack the thread... but look at the bottomw of "Citabria's" post in the signature it says Fester. He used to fly under Citabria, way back when, He was as uber as he is now.
But as far as the money, I've noticed the skill of some players jump. I don't know, but I was seen some odd manuevers, but then again I don't play as much as I have, and my skills are very sub par right now. But never knew an la7 could roll with an a5, in multiple attempts at a reversal, that bird flopped around as if it was a 190. And some spits with some amazing E characteristics. Maintaining speed and climb, with a nice closure rate vs a g10 at around 18k, Unless they were a coule +k above me.. then I'd understand, because they were going fast, at a co alt engagement tryed to even the E levels, then just climb away (had 50% gas left) but no go.
Money goes to the top 15 is my vote, I just wont be seeing any of it :D

If done agin ... i'd like prizes for best K/D in certain high ENY planes .. any 40 or above like 109-g6, f4u1 , c-202, hurri I, spit I , 109 e , etc... or 190 a-8 heh or p47 d30.. (anything 'hard' to fly)
I've never liked 'score potatoing" ... didn't even know how the attack button worked until few weeks ago
