What the hell is a troll...  and how is one executed?

What I've concluded what a "Troll" is.

It is a made up post, with some off the wall idea to bait people in flaming each other, just for a laugh at those fighting and bickering over what they posted.

Is this close?

This word has been in frequent use over the boards, along with some other I don't remember. I was just wondering what it meant, and how it came about.

The literal term, "trolling" is a method of fishing in which the fisherman travels slowly in a boat, dragging his line behind him, in an attempt to hook a fish. In the sense of this BB, "troll" is a diminutive form of this. If you posted back, got riled up, etc., he hooked you. Good enough?  :D

gotcha.... Knew the term in refference to fishing etc.. just thought it had some different meaning.. thanks bud..
