Title: Program to resume interrupted downloads
Post by: Mickey1992 on December 10, 2002, 01:34:23 PM
(I was going to post this in the S&H forum, but I guess it isn't AH related.)

Can anyone recommend a program to resume an interrupted internet download.  I have read about GetRight, are they any other good ones?

I use Getright. It is very good and therefore I have never needed to consider anything else.  Getright will redial your ISP if you get cut off, and you can even set it up to power off your PC at the end of the download. I needed it to download WB3 - lol.

Cool, thanks.  I need to download a patch for Trainz and it is around 250MB.  With my crappy phone line and my 28.8 connection it would take me nearly 24 hours.

Get Download Accelerator.

Its better than getright and gozilla because it speeds up your download by taking diferent streams and combining them into one file.

For example, if a site limits their bandwidth to only 30kbps, and your bandwidth is 90kbps, DA will download from three different 30k streams and combine them into 90kbps.

Mickey - i don't think it would take that long, but download agents won't actually speed up the process, unless they offer a way of running 2 or more parallel download streams. Not sure if Getright does this - haven't had to find out.

If the site is hosting the file via FTP, use an FTP client that supports broken downloads.
