I know, I know, ot. Forgive my impertinence.
Does anyone know what HTC uses for 3d modeling? After many years as a systems analyst, I'm gonna get into the game design thing. Thats the reason I got into this stinking business in the first place. I may not do very well tho, I can spell! j/k HT (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
-
Not sure what HT uses but the games I have helped out on I have used 3D studio max to develop in.

cc AG, thanks. I am pretty sure they don't use 3ds.
-
Nate mentioned what they use a long time ago, I think here on the boards, but might have been at the con. Either way I ain't searching for it but I think it might be in the archives somewhere.
-
Its not CATIA (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Ok fatty, so you are saying that natedog may or may not have mentioned what they may or may not use either on the boards (sometime or another) or at the con?
Cool, we almost have the answer!
Thanks!

Here is another clue. The letters gen are in the name.....I think.

Wow, Rip, nice shot. I have a "blown up" picture of how my BD-5 looks, I'll have to dig that up. (Though Id love to see it on the Boeing system you have!)
Apache, I'm playing with 3DLinx since I sure don't know C, but I am learning my way through visual basic.
Check out http://www.3dlinx.com/ (http://www.3dlinx.com/)
I have version 1.5, I see they have a newer build out now, not sure the cost to upgrade to the newer one.

Ok I am taking a shot in the dark but I think it is Multigen, and how hard is it to learn compared to say 3DSM? Picked up 3DSM in a couple hours. And how can I get a job working in the gaming industry?

Get your portfolio with your expirience and examples of your work, and cv ready and send it all to the game company which has 3d artist position open.
If there is a game development company in your area you can phone them.
Anyway, unless you has a good expirience your chances are vague.

I'll probably get slapped for this, but WTHYOLO. Apologies in advance to HTC, I mean no disrespect by posting this.
I'll start by saying that HTC has their terrain designer tool, and that might be a good place to start since you'll see a glimpse of what has to go into a project like Aces High, at least in the terrain department.
Also, Sick and a few other gamers have started a company called targetware, and their project has a big emphasis on player created content including 3D aircraft modelling, artwork, skins, terrain, sounds, you name it. Drop them a note (beta application available at www.targetware.net) (http://www.targetware.net)) if you want to try your hand at some of this stuff. At the very least, their preliminary 3d model and skin design specs (available to anyone interested, not just the beta team) can give you an idea of what kind of things a game developer needs from a game production quality aircraft model.
Again, I mean no disrespect to HTC by putting this information in this thread in this forum, because the thread seemed to lead directly to it. I won't be upset if you guys (HTC admins) need to delete it, but I hope you won't ban me from the forums (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Depends on whether you are doing terrain or PC/NPC modelling, as well. Best thing to do is check sites like Blizzard.com, Electronic Arts, etc., and go to the help wanted to see what experience they are looking for, and in what modelling software.
A lot of the 3D work done nowadays is done in Maya, also.
Umm, last time I checked, single-user license was 7,500 US.

I would prefer to do historical research and such for a gaming company. 3D graphics gets boring at times IMO.
