I'd have to go with "Final Countdown" as the best war film ever made.

Tora! Tora! Tora!

Probably because it was a Japanese/US co-production.  Seemed every even handed and unbiased.

Legionaire!!! (dunno how to spell it)

It had Jean Claude Van Dam, so you KNOW it had to be kick ass!!!!

But seriously, there was this movie I saw a while ago.. I think it had Jim Belushi in it... he was the tank commander for a tank called Lulubell (I think)... they were in the African desert fighting and found a demolished building that had a water supply. Water supply was all dried up, but a battalion of Germans were on their way there to get the water. They held the area to hold up the Germans so they couldn't get either to Italy or some other place in Africa.

Anyone remember what it was called?

The original with Humphry Bogart was the best, imo.  They used Valentine tanks I think.  It was the one with the 75mm and another smaller turret gun.  Somebody help me out here.:)

Very good movie both times.

I think the tank you want is the Grant. Had a 75mm gun in the hull, and a turret mounted 37mm gun IIRC.

Sergeant York (Movie with a message)
Sands of Iwo Jima (Not bad...relatively free of anti-Japanese bias...considering when it was made)
Cross of Iron (Great portrayal of the Eastern Front)
Patton (Fine portrayal of a Great General...with all his foibles...gotta feel sorry for Tim Considine)
Kelly's Heroes (Great comedy..."We're gonna boil our laundry!")
Stalag 17 (Another great comedy..."But what if she (Betty Grable) don't want me?"  "If she don't want you, she don't get nothin'."
Blue Max  (Don't know why...just a personal preference.

With Bogart was great.

Grant tank lol one of my fav tanks. Even though it was horrid, it had riveted armor then even if the shot that hit it did not penetrate the rivets would fly off and bounce around inside and could kill you!

Did the Jim bulushi version ever come out??

I would say.

You guy s are a bunch of crackheads.

The best war movie ever made has to be Active Stealth.  It has to be.  They show it every other day on HBO23 or whatever it is called.  Why would they show a movie that much if it isn't great?

Don't forget that recent movie about a Russian tank separated from its comrades in Afghanistan ... on TV ... might have been called The Beast or The Tank or something like that.

And there was an older movie about ordinary Germans caught up in WWII and just trying to survive as reluctant soldiers, vaguely aware of bad things Hitler was doing but unable to influence that.  It ends with the family reunited and on their townhouse balcony looking down the street toward advancing Russians and saying something like, "Maybe it won't be so bad."

Kelly's Heros is the one I've watched the most.

If you havn't seen it, it's a must see.  Oddball is my hero, and the best tanker ever.

I'll try to remember some quotes from memory.

"My CO got his head blown off, and his CO doesn't realize he's dead.  Now we wait here behind the lines, incase Hitler makes a push towards Paris, or New York."
-Oddball

"Crazy! I mean like, so many positive waves maybe we can't lose! You're on!"
-Oddball. I think this is when he decides to engage some Tiger tanks and 80 infantry in his Sherman with less than a dozen infantry to support him.

"I'm just drinkin a little wine, eatin a little cheese, and soakin up the rays"
-Oddball, sitting on a lawnchair in the middle of the battle mentioned above

"That's my other dog imitation."
-Oddball
