As posted previously, I can't play AH at the moment as there's something up with my other machine. The problem seems to be related to the video card drivers for my G4 4200. If I run up W98SE, I can play 3D games just fine, but in XP, the computer crashes fairly quickly - either BSOD or just freezing - after switching to 3d mode. I've tried updating and downdating the drivers without success. I've removed them via Add/Remove Programs then reinstalled, but still the problem persists. I'm guessing that some vestige remains, so what do I look for to expunge the driver?
XP is completely up to date.
I'd really rather not do a full reinstall.

This MS technet arcticle http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;325730 details an exact match for my problem, but the solutions it presents do not work.

You need to locate and download a program called Detonator Destroyer. I believe it can be found in the downloads section of http://www.guru3d.com . Make sure you follow the instructions exactly. Also, keep in mind that the XP and Win98SE versions of the drivers are NOT the same-they are OS dependent.

qts - I found these notes (http://www3.sk.sympatico.ca/forte/videocrd.html) useful for when changing video cards, which I have done twice in the past three years. I've not had a problem.

Thanks. Still no joy, alas. Looks like I'm going to have to go and reinstall. Not what I want to be doing two weekends before Christmas.
