Just fishing for a fellow AH'er to play Uncommon Valor with during our off-flight hours.
Never heard of Uncommon Valor? Well, it's only the best(ok, so it's the only) strategic WW2 Solomons/New Guinea game on the market.
The homepage is here:
http://www.matrixgames.com/Games/UncommonValor/features_2.asp
and the BBS is here:
http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=11
and finally you can order the game and read reviews from players here:http://www.matrixgames.com/cgi-bin/estore/category.cgi?item=1009&type=store

banana...stopped at the store after lunch to check on a possible new game. I saw this one...it looks like an updated version of WW2 Battles of the South Pacific.
I didn't realise you could play this on the net.
I may buy it..and we can go to war.
Are you still playing?
(on a sidenote...how is your father-in-law man?)

:)
Father-in-law is doing better, thanks for asking. Think he'll even pull through.
Uncommon Valor is one of the finest wargames ever. It was created in part by Gary Grisgby, who did the original "Pacific War".
Run, don't walk, back to the store and get it! I would love to play a PBEM game of it with you. While it can be played solitaire, the game really shines when you play by email with another human.
Btw, we have 3 of us in the Flying Mongrels who are already playing PBEM games with each other. It's a great game!
The only caveate, though, is that you really need to RTFM, or else you won't understand all the rules. But once you get the hang of it, you get sucked in and get addicted.
But that's a good thing! :D

It looks pretty detailed. I won't get it this wekeend..maybe next.
BF1942 tonight?

UV is really the only game I play all the time. I rarely get burn out with it. I just love the time period and I haven't even tried a pbem game yet just all ai games. I would like to try it tho, be gentle.
Can't wait for war in the pacific.

No BF1942 for me tonight. I play trumpet in a brass quintet, and we have rehearsal tonight for a gig that we have tomorrow night.
I should be back to a normal Friday night schedule next week.
