Don't worry too much about a constant framerate. If you're really worried about it, try this.
Go into the video configuration prior to entering the game, and select a frame rate lock speed. I think the options are 45, 60, and unlimited. Check 45. Then select a resolution and color depth that should keep you above 45 fps. With your vid card, 1024x768 and 32 bit should be decent.
That should keep your framerate locked at 45. It won't go any higher, but might go lower if the scene gets complex enough. I've done this in the past and it doesn't make things look any better to me, but some people care about it I guess. Turning off any anti-aliasing can help as well.

Dont worry. Set your monitor to 85hz though. Frame rates are fine above 30 in heavy smoke etc. I leave the fr counter off most of the time unless I suspect something is up. You'll soon notice if fr's are getting too low.

I have one. I am running a 20-25 FPS ave with an occasional 30 FPS spike. I have a 733 Pros. with 512 Ram, and a 128 Radeon. Is it natural to run that low of a FPS? I mean, what is teh overall average? I have played quite a few Online games were the FPS will make or break you. So I am just curious. I have been in AH for a while, so I am not a Greenback of anysort.
