is the WW2OL website down?

I go to it and get a page error.

Do you have an FTP location for the latest version?

Son of a gun. And the spam doesn't only come from hardcase. I got a couple emails from WW2OL playnet urging me to try WW2OL again, even though it wouldn't apply to me!

At approximately 1700 ET on Friday, December 13th, we will reactivate all accounts which were closed between June 6th 2001 and December 10th, 2002 for access to the game and forums. This does not apply to banned or special promotional accounts.

The only time I played is when they had that period of 2 weeks (?) when they had that free gigex trial, a special promotional account. Yet I still got spammed.

I don't mind at all getting a mail from CRS, in fact, I think I might give it a go. Even if I did not want to try it, the e-mail is completely appropriate IMHO.

its sad when a company has to offer free game play to players who bought there game. those Rats lost alot or respect from alot of people by rushing there game out and sweet the public.

but i will try it out again.  just because im board and its free, but they wont get my money again.
"one mistake..shame on you....but two mistakes....shame on me.

Actually, in regards to marketing, "Free-Trial" marketing is a very successful one, used for hundreds, if not thousands of years. Its not a case of "Desperation"...its a well-thought out concept that is historically successful.

They are really going to get some kinda response from the free trial that starts today with a dead web site.

Soon as I post this, the site is back up, lol.

I agree and started to see what I need to do to get back into the game.  First thing I will have to do is buy more ram.

Then I read the review from someone here who tried it again.  He detailed the tweaking he had to do to get his frame rates to a reasonable level and he then explained the process of setting up the joystick mapping and all the testing required to fly.  He also confirmed that the only support that you get is from the community, which will involve posting problems and trying the multide of "suggested fixes" from the members.

I just don't have the time to do all that again AND spend more money on hardware.

Sorry CRS...you still make it too difficult to enjoy your product.

Q: What would you suspect the act of posting SPAM for a product or game on the commerically operated BBS of a competing company would indicate?

A: A desperate act of a desperate company that one might assume is sinking due to the high volume of unhappy players.

You can understand where Hardcase learnt to spam, I've received the CRS mail 5 times now in the space of 48 hours. The first one was welcome but it's just getting silly now.
