Title: What would you do?
Post by: Turdboy on December 13, 2002, 09:19:12 AM: Last night I decided to take a Lanc up to try and figure the bomb sight out and I chose a base that was away from the action so I would have time to play. I was 1/2 way to my target when I noticed that there was a low con going after our Port. I wasn't to worried since it was a lone con so I continued on.

Well after making several passes on my target(only hitting a few) I spotted a C47 taking off heading for our Port.

I called it in on the country channel but no one responded so the the question is:

What do you do?

I decided a Port was worth more than my Buff so I descended to sea level and gave chase. I was almost to the C47 when I noticed a 109 had taken off and was closing fast. Well I managed to kill the 109 but the damn C47 kept just far enough away I couldn't a good shot till it finally turned back towards his base and I was able to kill him seconds before the 109 reupped and killed me.

Again what would you have done!

The reason I asked was that when I got back to the tower I announced that the C47 was dead and I had to kill it with my Buff and I got the response "Newbie!".

What was the right thing to do? Should I have bailed and upped a fighter?

Just wondering! I have only been here about a month.

I wold have done the same thing. Is it gamey? Probably. But if you're not getting any help, and your saving a base, you are the last line of defence. You did what you had to.

I would have done the same thing too...except the first time the 109 came at me I would have been killed. ;)

There's a bit of satisfaction in using a bomber as a fighter plane, like Long John Silver maneuvering the Hispanola with pirates hanging in the sails while a helpless cargo brig wallowed on the waves. Avast and prepare to be boarded!

Being new I guess I just wanted to know if that was a bad thing to do or not.

I guess I'm buttheaded enough to do what ever I want anyway but sometimes I like to know why I pissed someone off or why they think I did something wrong.

I don't think what you did was gamey. You stopped a base from being taken by using every means at your disposal. Hell of a job.

you did the right thing.

and if you managed to land as well so much the better.

Does not get much better than what Karnak said! Cept that it is your money, enjoy it the way you choose! Maybe it's me, but that sounded like an echo. ;)
