Title: Trucks and bed liners

I bought a 2002 silverado, back when my dad died, we needed it to take care of his estate. It made over 50 trips to the dump in the first 4 months I owned it and I scratched it up the weekend after I got it.

It has been a great truck.

I spent the extra cash at the dealer and got LineX sprayed in the bed, and after hauling all that crap there is not one dent. nor has the lineX scratched off.

WHat kind of bed liners did you all go with?

My budy with the same truck had a plastic one and when he pulled it out the bed was trashed and rusty.

Post by: Chaos68 on December 13, 2002, 10:00:52 AM: NEVER go with plastic bed liners. They do more damage then if you dont put one on. We use GMC trucks at work with plastic bed liners and within a year the beds had to be replaced due to the abuse the plastic did to the bed sides.

Post by: Ripsnort on December 13, 2002, 10:01:12 AM: My 91' F150 came with one. Not sure of the brand name. I've always been curious if there is any major corrison going on underneath the liner, between the liner and the bed. Guess I might have to pull it out one day and check.

Its a plastic liner and its held up extremely well to abuse.

Had Rynoliner sprayed in the bed, matched the paint perfectly, and I am very happy with it.

have taken it off twice in the 5 or so years i have owned the truck always dirty but no rust at all and almost no damage. mayby because it is a very thick one ( looks like 4 or 5 mm thick weighs like 80 lbs guesstimate.

the inside ot the plasic is shredded and torn form wood tools lawnmowers funiture ect ect ect ect.

2 batterys
1 clutch at 212k ( first one mechanic said)
one timing chain ( yea not belt )
4 sets spark plugs ( for the hell of it not repair )
2 sets wires
5 set of tires

original ac compressor ( added freon in 97 last lol )
original distributor

and this on the cheapest 4 banger they made
i will never own another brand truck makes every chevy or ford i ever owned seem like a model t

FORD F150 300 CI Straight 6.
Three sets of brakes
Three sets of tires
Changed oil every 5,000 miles.
Tune up every 25,000.
176,000 total, reliable miles.

Edit, 3 sets of everything,not 2.

Nearly same story here Rip. Got 105,000 milage now and going strong. BTW mine came with that plastic liner too, never looked under it.

But I think best for your dollar is the Rhino liner....best stuff around..and durable.

I have a plastic bedliner I had the dealer put in.

I regret having spent that money. The liner is wearing the paint off of the bed. I should have gone with one of the spray on liners like GtoRA2 and dago did.

If I had the money right now, I'd go and do it.

Ya know, the salesman in 1991 told me "The 300 CI straight 6 with an automatic has more torque and pulling power than the small block V8 with a stick" . (shrugs) I get 17 mpg avg. however its limitations are basically 1/2 yard of sand or rock (weight) or pulling a 21 ft. boat. 'Tis only a 1/2 ton afterall.

Yup, many colors. The stock green rhino is a tad bit lighter than my trucks color, so they mixed in a little black and got a great match.
