Title: Money...
Post by: eric on August 02, 1999, 12:32:00 PM
Well I've been playing WB for about 8 or 9 months now, and I cant stand wondering "Am I over 30$ yet.." "Am I over $40 yet..." As I fly with my squad since Im not made of money nor do i want to think about that the whole time, I would rather concentrate.. I even bought a little timer to time myself  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) But a flat rate would be great because I could play more first off, And Im not worrying about money all the time, I would pay 30$ a month for flate rate..$40 if you catch me on a good day  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) I have thought about trying out AW but i've seen and heard and read so many mixed feelings on it that i am not really putting that as a top priority  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) I wanna beta test AH first heh.

How about loading money along with the fuel. And a little money gauge next to the fuel indicator showing money spent (left)  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

I can NEVER have any fun flying online and wondering how many seconds are ticking off and how much my monthly bill is increasing. I mean, even if I was very rich, I'd hate to be always flying with something ticking and timing me, that's no fun at all.

I think the company that offers unlimited or close to unlimited play for a reasonable price will attract so many more clients, that it'll eventually make more money from the service cuz of a larger customer base, rather than a small customer base that pays exorbitant, hourly prices.

I mean, e.g. Warbirds could probably increase it's customer base by at least 5 times the current size if it applied a reasonable flate rate pricing.

I don't mind even paying about 25 bucks a month for close to unlimited play (80 hours or unlimited play ).

Well, hopefully there will be a utility in AH like there was in WB (before they porked it) that showed your current balance to the second. I always knew what my charges were and when they got close to the budget I set for myself I stopped playing online.

I really doubt a start up company can afford to basically give away their product by offering all you can eat for a cheap price, flat rate pricing doesn't guarantee lots of customers.

This subject comes up about every 4 or 5 months on AGW about WB usually by new players that want something on the cheap with their view of rational ideas of why flat rate pricing would work (generally in their favor). Yeah Microsoft and a few others can offer flat rate pricing primarily because they have the deep enough pockets to cover the loss, besides look what you get for that flat rate, basically Quakebirds.

Just my 2 cents worth but I'd rather pay for a quality product and have 100 savvy calculating opponents versus 1000 opponents shooting everything that moves, friend or foe.

But atleast it could be maybe a 1$ an hour  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) Saving money over WB..and yes, a flat rate does increase people to join the game..I have talked to lots of people on WB that said AH looks like a good game..  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) and if it was a cheaper price or flat rate they are glad to come on over .. that is including me too.. I just dont like on WB.. how you can even see how much money you have spend in this month (as tigger stated) and I remember when i could check...  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)

I think they could come up with a graduated charge scale.

IF you buy more up front you get a cheaper rate when your bought and paid for time expires.

There is another thread about this very subject.  I posted my idea there.

I also said that DAR operators, and Buff Drivers should Pay less.  This would encourage their proliferation.
