Well, it's that time of the year...again.
I have a friend who has spent over a year in Japan teaching English as part of the JET program, and he'll be coming back to the States for Xmas. I would like to get him a good WWII book as a gift for the holiday, preferably one that focuses more on Japanese, or Nisei, or PTO/CBI topics or stories.
So, any suggestions out there? Any recommendations you guys (and gals) can give me would be appreciated.

It isn't about Japan, but is by far the best WW2 book I have read:
Stalingrad by Anthony Beevor.
Incredible book...I've read it about 10 times now.
