it would be nice to not have to use the gamey bishop/rook/knit names for countries.
would it be possible to code in new symbols and names for the countries for ct?
like axis with a cross or zero
allies with a star
neutral with any symbol?

For political correctness, better to stay with neutral chess terms and symbols in general while allowing real country names in scenarios. Even there would avoid reviving symbols like swastika or rising sun.
Fine to war game to learn lessons and try new tactics, but unproductive to revive old animosities. Aces High uses WWII equipment, not WWII politics.

Hey, were talking about the CT here, were anything but neutral, politically correct! And we do relive battles there.

Halo,
Unless I am quite mistaken, Japanese warships still fly the Rising Sun ensign.

For some reason which I have not research into yet, the Maritime Self Defense Force still do fly the same rising sun ensign that the Japanese Imperial Navy was using at the time.
-
The Rising Sun ensign was not a political symbol like the swastica.
It is more like the crosses that German aircraft carried, and still carry.
-
What's not to like about the meatball anyway?
-
German planes carry the pre-Nazi schwarz-kreuz. That's just a guess at the name by the way. It's the same cross carried by German planes in WW1.
-
It's called a the Balkenkreuz btw ;)

Rollio--
He's talking about the rising sun with the rays coming out from it, not just the plain sun.
I think the sun w/ rays is a Japanese naval battle flag, and it is still flown.

While we'll never see Nazi swastikas or a Communist hammer & sickle, will we have (or are there already?) planes with half-naked babes as squad logos?
