Title: P-47 Dive Flaps
Post by: MOSQ on December 16, 2002, 02:30:50 PM
I just posted this in the aircraft section, then thought this is probably a better place for it..
A question for the P-47 experts:
What effect do the Dive Flaps have on the P-47 in AH ? How are they best used tactically ? Can they be used as speed brakes ?
I've only tried them a couple of times and didn't notice a great deal of difference, but I probably wasn't using them correctly.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

IIRC they're small flaps under the wings, designed not to slow down the plane but to redirect the airflow.  They help prevent compression at high speeds at altitude.
