EDIT: SEE MY LAST POST IN THIS THREAD - nothing to see here, move along.
Anyone else have a problem with video config? When I hit the button, all but one or two option buttons are grayed out including every resolution. Hitting ok crashes the FE with an error message, hitting cancel resets resolution to 640x480 which then crashes with a different error message.
Manually editing video.cfg and running AH without entering video config menu works and the game runs fine, but for me the video config is badly broken.
I am using a GF4-4200 with the omegacorner.com tweaked 40.72 drivers. The image quality is great and I saw reduced stuttering with these drivers, the vid config menu just doesn't work properly anymore.
I have not rebooted and tried again, and if that changes anything I'll remove/edit this post. In the meantime, my h2h host is up and full of komets bravely swooshing around and around and around :)
Thx HTC!

You sure your monitor is setup properly? Correct drivers? Correct settings?
Doesn't appear to me it is...

It worked fine with 1.10 and works fine with everything else I run. I had 1.10 hosting for hours prior to updating to 1.11. Image quality in the game is still superb and the video7.cfg file lists the correct driver name. My refresh rates are correctly set and identified, and I run the game at the same resolution/color depth as my desktop (1280x1024x32) so it all SHOULD work just like the last version did.
If HTC would like me to investigate further I'm willing, but if nobody else is having the problem I'm reasonably happy just leaving it as it is and reporting the problem I have just in case it's something they can fix if/when it gets to the top of the things to do list.
The game runs just fine as long as I don't enter the video config menu, so if it's a config problem with my own computer I'll probably just leave it alone because the game still works. I have already put a post in the bug forum so HTC has probably already seen my bug report. I haven't heard anyone else griping, but not everyone immediately enters the video config before starting the game either. Pyro already released a known-bug notice about 640x480 resolution, so maybe there's an actual problem somewhere in there.
I'm sure HT and the gang are on top of it, except I read in the other thread that HT quit... Dunno if he cancelled his account though because who does the company owner call to get his own ident back? ;)

GUYS,
Check out Pyros post in the announcement section ....there is a bug with that video setting.
Dont go trying to retweak your computers just move to the next higher resolution is basically what it says.
Regards!

I'm still using 30.82s with Win98, so I'm not sure if it could be related to the newer drivers your using and/or something new HTC did.
Do you need to enter the video configuration screen everytime you run AH?
Couldn't you just set it once and leave it?
This is what my video.cfg file looks like:
1024,Width
768,Height
32,ColorDebth
1,DeviceCnt
Primary Display Driver
0,UseZBuffer
0,DisableTripleBuffer
You could try pasting that into your own video.cfg file, manually change the width and height, and then see if that works.
Just as a temporary fix I mean, I dunno what else would cause that.
Did you try rebooting the PC? <- Works sometimes if your PC has had a lot of up time.

The video.cfg file is old... I think it uses video7.cfg since I deleted both and I think only the video7.cfg file was re-created.
Mine looks the same. I know about the 640x480 bug, but my problem is that I can't select ANY of the options in the video menu. They're all grayed out. If I hit cancel, it sets the little dot to 640x480x16 and I can't change it because it's grayed out. If I don't hit cancel, it still crashes.
Nope, I don't have to enter the video config every time I run the game. I just manually edited the file this time. I usually check out the config menus immediately after any updates however, to see if they've added any more features. In this case, it wasn't such a good idea. Here is the video7.cfg file that works:
1280,Width
1024,Height
32,ColorDebth
1,DeviceCnt
NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 (Omega 9M 1.4072) \ Microsoft Direct3D Hardware acceleration through Direct3D HAL
0,UseZBuffer
0,DisableTripleBuffer
0,MaxFPS
1,MipMapEnabled
0,DisablePalettizedTextures
1,FastVertexProccessing
I manually set fast vertex proccessing to 1 (it defaults to 0) because proccessing is misspelled and I figured it must therefore be an 31337 setting :) The game works with this config file if I don't enter the video config menu.
I almost forgot - I use win98SE

I think you're right about the video.cfg file, I just cut 'n paste the AH directory from HDD to CD to HDD every upgrade.
I dunno what to say, but I know I've had this problem before and it was because my monitor wasn't properly installed- used standard drivers, then changed to monitor specific drivers and it fixed it.
This is my video7.cfg:
1024,Width
768,Height
32,ColorDebth
1,DeviceCnt
NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 \ Microsoft Direct3D Hardware acceleration through Direct3D HAL
0,UseZBuffer
0,DisableTripleBuffer
0,MaxFPS
0,MipMapEnabled
1,DisablePalettizedTextures
0,FastVertexProccessing

Nevermind. I rebooted and it works just fine now. I apologize to HTC if they spent ANY time looking into this. Apologies to anyone else who killed one brain cell or wasted a second of their life reading this thread. Apologies to the universe for increasing entropy by shoving all these electrons up and down the wires talking about what was my problem all along.
Umm... Anyone else I should apologize to?

Eagle, you need to set up your monitor in windows.Dosn't know what modes your computer can run.

HT,
I think there's something buggy somewhere when I leave my computer hosting AH for a long time. Graphics settings get messed up mostly. My monitor is correctly set up and the modes show up fine after a reboot, but if I host for a while (many hours) and haven't rebooted in a while, things just start acting weird. At the same time AH couldn't get windows to report the available video modes, quicken quit displaying ledger entries.
I rebooted and then everything worked fine. My dlink 604 router is going nuts reporting sequential hits on ports between 12000 and 14000 and I thought AH only used ports 5000-8000, so I'm not sure if someone else is pounding on my router or what. The network thing just gives me something else to troubleshoot :(
In any case, my monitor actually autodetects correctly as a Hitachi CM751 and with my GF4 it give me 85hz up to 1280x1024 and 60 at 1600x1200, but it needed to be rebooted before the AH vid config worked. I am not curerntly using nvidia's refresh rate overrides because I don't need them. 85hz seems fast enough.
Sorry to have wasted your time with this.
