Title: Komet fuel tanks
Post by: AtmkRstr on December 17, 2002, 07:37:46 AM
I noticed that when you first start a Komet, that it's feeding fuel from a second fuel tank that burns out in just a couple seconds.   I think it's called AUX.

I was just wondering about the history about that little tank.  Why was it there if it's so small? Why was it used in starting the plane? Any other detail about it?

Was I halucinating, maybe I was just seeing things?

There's a small fuel tank that contains the fuel to start the main turbines; that's what I would expect the AUX tank is. On the other hand, there is a modelling failure in AH, in that the generator that spools up the turbines produces a cloud of steam out of a vent in the underside of the aircraft that gets left behind when the 163 accelerates that doesn't appear in the game (come on, HTC -- you model the exhaust of the RATO pods of the Ar-234;blowing a couple white clouds at the stern of the 163 when it spools up shouldn't kill framerate, and it would give a little extra 'Me-163 taking off' warning to planes that are looking at the field):
