Just wondering what is on the menu for next week.
-
Typicaly such things are put out to Press on Wensday, I am Shure Jarbo will clue you in in due time:)
-
Thank you.
-
i'd suggest leaving the setup and terrain up again for another week, as you're gonna be seeing more people wander in from the MA. either that or make sure it's a very good terrain/setup to help hold some attraction.
i think perhaps a mid war setup would be good... '43-'44
just a suggestion.
-
Finn vs Russ map another week?
I can live with that!
:D
-
I'd like to second it as well. I have not had time to fly in almost 3 weeks and last night was my first chance to see this terrain. If there is any way to run this terrain another week...
-
I have not fought in every corner of that map, would be nice to see different landscapes up in the north for instance!
-
Isn't the Finland Map supposed to be back in January? Thought I saw a post to that effect. Anyway, I do not like the idea of setting a precedent here, no matter how good the map or setup. I like that the CT changes each week.
Aren't we due for a late war Europe setup?
-
Initially the Russians planned to march in Helsinki after one week of war. Ofcourse this did not happen.
Now, decades later we planned to reach the Urals in one week which we, in retrospective, are forced to admit being a very short time regarding warfare against determined opposition.
In order to complete our vengeful mission I send out a plea for another week of Continuation war in the breathtaking landscapes that only FinRus offers.
-
The map is great I think everyone agrees, but there isnt a map or setup worth 2 weeks. I could live with the map if there were aircraft changes. No matter what you do the same setup gets stale after 4 or 5 days.
-
I think it's fair to give the Western European Theater fans what they want now. We've gone through quite a lot of PAC setups, and got this wonderful Fin-Rus setup we all waited for a long time.
I suggest a 1943 RAF-USAAF vs LW setup: Spit9s, P-47D-11s and Bf109G-2s, G-6s, and Fw190A-5s. It'd be good if we had a new Western European map with more immersive skins, though..
-
Late war Europe sounds good. Or adding some planes to current set up would be cool. The Finns are kicking my bellybutton good right now. Im getting discouraged:D
-
Though the New Finnish map is great - just am not wild about the plane set. Would like to see a late war set-up with the Juggs & P-51's and the whole German Stable. How about another "Big Week" event or something of the sort.
-
Are there new Europe maps ready now? How's 10bears "Hungary", is it available? I like European wars very much, too and all timelines are good. I really wait if we some day can fly with early war planes like Russian "Rata" 1-16 and "Tsaikka" I-153 against Brewster, Fiat G50, Morane Saulnier etc.
In FinRus map we have possibility to make "War in Lapland 1944" between Russian and German without Finns switching southern Russian and all Finns fields away. Landscapes are really different in north part of this map: hills, mountains and deep valleys between them.
You can add P50B and Spitfire to Russian fighters, then the planeset looks like this:
Russian:
La5FN
Yak9T and U
P40 E and B
SPitfire Mk V
P50B Mustang
Hurricane II
IL2 type III
Boston III
A20G Havoc
C-47
Germany:
Four different Bf 109: E, F and G types
Both Bf 110 models
FW 190 A5 and F8
Ju 87 Stuka
Ju88A4
C-47
I ain't say no nothing to make one week more in my map, maybe the Hosts can use this setup later! What is your opinion of this?
-
Kanttori, that sounds like a nice variation. E-mail me with the field assignments for that one, and I'll "keep it in the can" for next run. For everyone else, I don't want to steal Jarbo's thunder, but...well, he hears your pleas.;)

Sabre the niemen map is up for download but its 512 x 512. Even so it would make a great Kurland set up with late war lw vrs vvs.
Folks would get to see the new skins as well. The planest would be the same as on the Niemen Write up.

Heres a link to the terrain map

Look at the map Soviets surrounded memel and starting at about 7 11 7 and curcing around east then ne to n to sector 12 14 2 would be the Soviet line.
Look at this map

You can use this as a guide to set up the fields.
At 1206 hours on February 16, 1945 four Fw 190A-8s led by Oberleutnant Otto Kittel of 2./JG 54 took off from an airbase in the Kurland pocket. The mission was free hunting over the frontline area near Dzukste. This was Kittel’s 583rd combat sortie. After only seven minutes the German fighters spotted fourteen Il-2s that were bombing and shooting rockets at German ground troops from an altitude of 450 feet. Oberleutnant Kittel radioed an attack order. The Il-2 Shturmoviks were flying in a row, one after another, and Kittel attacked from the right hand side. His wingman Oberfähnrich Renner wrote:
”Flying at a distance of about 300 feet from Oblt. Kittel I saw him dive beneath and behind an Il-2 and attack it. Behind us two other Il-2s pulled up sharply. In the next moment an explosion was seen in his cockpit and the aircraft started to descend.”
Kittel’s Fw 190 tore into the ground with its starboard wing, caught fire, and then exploded. Otto Kittel, victor in 267 aerial combats and the highest scoring fighter pilot to fall prey to an enemy, had no chance whatsoever of surviving. He was buried in Sabile/Lithuania. Otto Kittel was the top Fw 190 ace of the war, followed closely by another member of the Grünherz Geschwader, Walter Nowotny.

Thanks, Wotan...It sounds like a nice one. I've got to download that terrain and check it out! While large by CT standards, there's no reason we need to use it all. Plus, it has bridges!:D

well theres numerous things you do with it. the reason I mentioned Kurland was you can keep the area of play within CT standards as opposed to the whole map.
