My trusty twisty stick has killed it's last bishknit. The poor old fella's been with me since AirWarrior 2.
With my recent home purchase, and Christmas... well let's just say I'm looking for a VERY cost effective replacement.
Any suggestions?

Get the Microsoft Precision 2. I think you can get them for $40 at any Fry's or similar store. Has a bunch of buttons and is twisty stick.

X45.
Very nice.

look in hardware forum
MS FFB2 50% off and X45 down to $59

MS Precision 2 is probably the best bet for a cheap, quality stick.
I am also using a thing called a Nostromo Speed Pad (made for FPS games) as a throttle which cost about $30.

Go for the MSFFB2 you wont regret it!

Thanks for the response guys

Avoid anything with rudderpedals. You'll break your wrist before you finally adjust.
Stick with the MS twisty sticks... they are still great sticks. The only decision should be FFB or no FFB.

BTW, I still have a couple of Sidewinders laying around in excellent condition if you don't want too much of a change.

Thanks DV. I'm gonna price some FF sticks this week, maybe I can find one on sale. If not I'll get back with ya.
Anyone have an opinion on Force Feedback? Never tried it.

How is that working out for you? What are the pros, cons? I need to upgrade to USB, but don't want to drop a huge chunck of change on another CH-Pro throttle. Being that you have used both, how do they compare?

Pro Throttle is better, but costs 4 times as much and takes up way more space. You can get close to the same functionality with the speedpad thing. It has 10 buttons, a throttle 'wheel', and a 4 way switch, so it does not have the three 4 (8?) way hats that a Pro Throttle does. It also has a 'shift' function to give 3 different functions for each button but I do not use it.
Since it is hardware, most places will let you return it if you don't like it or have trouble with it on your system.

Im still using a MSFFB1 - it works fine cept the FF dont work with win XP. It still has some of the FF but its not adjustable like with win98.
I think the "MSFF2" will work with XP cause they got there own little set up disk!!!
I love mine very much it very very much more immersing than with out! you can feel the forces get weaker as you pull up into a stall then when your hanging there the stick goes all limp. wHEN YOU PULL THE TRIGGER you can feel the different in Machine guns vs cannons , when you drop bombs you feel a little kick.........
Seriously goto best buy buy one if you dont like it take it back and get the PP2.
I bet you like it too much though!
