Title: Rook AAR: Airfield 54 (5/1/01)
Post by: milnko on May 02, 2001, 11:37:00 AM
The Fat Druck Bastards (BISHs) ruined our field capture of A54 (KNIT) when they found out on ch.1 that we were hitting it.

So in retaliation we vulched them repeatedly at A24 for about an hour, killing everything but 1 FH so they could spawn  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Had a blast!

 <S> FDB's! your good sports!

Actually Milenko....we saw your dar bar over the ocean and thought it might be an HQ raid.  It was moving pretty fast so we decided to head that way and see what was cooking.  When you turned for 54 and we found out it was ASSassins in Arados, we just had to go spoil the fun.  In fact the vote on RW was unanimous to go to 54 and disrupt your attack.  heh heh

One of the many reasons I personally dislike in-flight radar. Guys from the other country were able to come over and spoil our field capture.

In-flight dar makes it easy for 5 minute old newbies to get around, but at the expense of ANY type of organized covert stuff.

(no disrespect intended Hitech)

BTW <S> FDB's. you shoulda heard our RW channel when fatty killed our goon, well, maybe not...

Question: Continue to support A24 capture, or try and disrupt the Assassins' raid on A54?

Answer: Must. Kill. Assassins!  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

-------------

Question: There are 15 nme planes circling overhead and the only thing up at the field is an FH & a BH...should I up from here repeatedly like a tard or come in from the next closest field with alt and speed?

Answer: Duh...aaaahhhrrr, whurs mah Niki? <BOOM!>  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Had a blast last night, even getting vulched...I think at one point Hblair hit me 3 times in a row with his Tempest!  He gets an honorary FDB Vulch Achievement Award for last night  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Yeah no toejam SOB....I think Hblair was paying me back at 24 for sneaking up on him in my Tempest at 54.

Maybe we should put out a bounty for ASSassin sightings in the arena?   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

hblair,

Are you saying it would have been more fun if you could just roll in and blow the field away with no opposition?  How.... boring.

The reason the dar is there is so that folks can find each other and fight.  I think it does a good job.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)  No inflight radar would not be as fun IMHO.

HTC could leave the sector bars and git rid of the positioner dots tho.....that way ya can find the fight, but your not relying on radar to find the badguy.

Most WW2 pilots killed never saw the bad guy that got him, the game would be alot more fun if ya had to constantly rotate your head and chk 6 to prevent the surprise bounce.

I'll be first to admit I am too dependent on DAR to locate individual cons.

There was no in-flight radar back when I flew warbirds, and you know what? people checked radar before they replaned. They got on country channel and told people if there was something significant going on. and vectored the friendlies there. It actually added to teamwork.

If you wanna find each other and fight, you can check the radar before you replane, it's not that hard. (click, click) If you think it does a good job, you probably don't do much flying together in an organized group. Have you ever tried an organized mission? We do at least one most every night as a squad, and several times on our squad night, and from that experience, I can tell you it gives away a whole lotta info to every tom, dick and harry in the arena.

I don't ever critique much about this game, and I hope this is taken as constructive criticsm, as I'm not steamed over this or anything. It's just the way I feel about this, and have always felt about in-flight radar. It's HTC's decicision, and you won't see me moan and groan over it.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Am I the only one here who thinks the unknown is half the thrill of air to air combat?

Lord, I hope not.

My vote is for full time dot radar on all ASSassins in the arena...no matter where they are or what alt they are flying at.   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

the information war is nonexistant in Aces High.

everyones cards are on the table with inflight radar, sector bars and precision range icons.

it fosters a gangbang environment that is more severe than any other combat sim I have ever played.

I think I should get an award from the FDBs for the stuff I was saying on RW. It was an endless string of *@&#*@&#(*$&#@$*#@$(*#@$*&#@$&(#@*$&@#*$&@(*#&$(@*#.

Damn you Fatty. I wasn't even looking when you came in, never saw your fighter tear the wing off of my c47.

LOL Fatty.

HBlair, I have to agree with you on the DAR. In fact, I don't remember how many here were in the open beta, but for most of it (That I can recall) The only 'dot' DAR was friendly. We had enemy Sector Dar, which still kind of denied a good sneak attack, but at least you had to have a good search pattern going to make sure they didn't catch ya when you weren't looking.
