Title: Perk system needs tweaking.
Post by: rod367th on December 18, 2002, 05:33:58 PM
Early this morning it was 64 Bishops 31 Knights 16 rooks. Since rooks lowest numbers, We knights paid price to. Perks were .62 or less and we were out numbered 2 to 1.

Doesn't seem right that team outnumbered gets penalized because 1 team lower.

Could it be programed that perks are from target u hit. Say rooks lowest team but your team is only hitting Bishops who have numbers. So if you kill bishop u get extra perks but less if you hit rook targets?

But you outnumbered the Rooks, too. You guys were 2:1 against Rooks.

Bishops are penalized against both Knits and Rooks, and Knits are penalized against Rooks.

Since the Rooks are the puniest, they receive the largest advantages. You say you are penalized, but to the Bishops, which judging by the perk multiplier you posted, would be only about 0.3, you guys are a lot better off in collecting perks.

What is so wrong, or is so hard to understand about such a simple system?

lol. your out numbered 2 to 1. And you get penalized for flying. How can that make any sense to you.

I agree on perk system but Think it could be base on side your killing. If i'm flying 190a5 against Bishops with 2 to 1 odds why should I lose perks for kills? Because rooks have less numbers?

Now if i'm flying against rooks lower my perk points. GET this kewassa not talking about price of planes, Talking about perks for kills.

Hiya Rod367th,

I think the first step here is ask HTC to publicize how this is calculated.  I don't think I have seen an explanation on how it is calculated yet... although I haven't bothered to try to calculate it on my own yet either. :D

Perk Bonus  = 1 / ((Country / Total * 3) ^ 2)

Btw believe its in the help pages.

Oh, that was quick... sorry, haven't been to the help pages either.  Thnx HiTech. :)

well, if this is the case, then I don't think there is anything too wrong with it then...

HTC,

There seems to be something wrong with the formula here...

If I use rod367th's example for numbers it would come up as follows, rounded off to the 2nd decimal point:

Perk point bonus for bishops: 0.33
Perk point bonus for knights:  1.42
Perk point bonus for rooks:     5.35

This seems fine until we use the formula for perk points earned, and cost of perk planes.  It says on the help page that we use the inverse for perk point earned and use these figures for cost of perk planes.  That would mean it would benefit the bishops the most.  Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Which leads me to the 2nd question... from the formula presented, it should benefit the knights as well, contrary to rod367th's claims.  If the inverse is used... then it would be the other way around...

... unless of course, my calculations are off...

Hitech...is there any way to incorporate the number of bases a country has as well as the number of players?  Just think of all the times one country has an equal amount of players but is down to 3 bases.  Most of the country will just log when they are that low on bases.
