Agreed, though it would be cool to have "paying players only" arenas with no 8 player restriction.
-
I think HTC has been generous to allow 8 players, in the current crop of online sims how many allow head to head at all? If you want more than 8 players in an arena then there is a subscription page here somewhere...
-
Being able to play for free against other people, with no outlay already? how many developers give you this? a free game?
I think your lucky to get 8 people.
just save that 50 cents a day and come join us in the MA, CT, CAP events, TOD etc etc :)

lol
AH for X-box, PS2
now free 16 player host
what next?:D :D
buy account;)

Are you ready to pay?............... how much?
-
Funny how many of the H2H players seem to think they should get more for their money.

5 feet 3 inches.
This is my guess as to how high you were when dropped on your head as a baby.
You are playing a game for free that I and other subscribers pay for. You are a freeloader.
Want to make requests? Pony up.

Psyko
It costs US$15 a month
I think thats NZ$ 28,95 new zealand dollars a month.
NZ$ 1 = US$ 0.51
Just subscibe give them your Credit card details and get on :)
(or pay by other method, explained on web site)
:)
-
so with $15, you can go to any arena?
i hope it is because in warbirds, u pay alot like 25 just to get all arenas and play time is unlimited
-
$15 gets you the whole nine yards.

Increasing the limit of the number of particpants in the free H2H games might not actually be too bad. Maybe up to 10~12 is good.
A lot of people would only think of playing for free, but among those people many new players might be interested deeply in a great game where you can play 10~12 player games for free, and might wish to get a paid subscription and find out more about the regular arenas.
As the potential of HTC and AH grows, I believe the quality of generous free services can also afford to grow with it.
However, I agree that current H2H player game is, considering that they are totally free, just about "more than enough" to the non-paying fans. I've been in simular multiplayer games in IL-2, and I have to admit despite the superior graphics and some interesting modelling features, AH still offers a far superior and user-friendly, fun MP conditions than IL-2 for totally free. That's an incredibly generous gesture in part of HTC.

Shane...
Metric system is hard, I know - but still 1 yard is approx 0,9 meter!
What you thinking of might have been feet...

Not bad, I was in Moscow and the Komi Republic in Sept. thru Oct '95. That was when the exchange rate was 4,300 Rubles to the Dollar.
American men, especialy one from the city their favorite soap opera < Santa Barbara > is based, are VERY popular to young Russian women ;)

Apparently there are two different types of rubles, an older and a newer type. The newer stuff(post 1998 iirc) is just divided by 1000. So 4,300 old rubels would be 43 with the new. (This is copied from the site i found to convert the currency)

I was in Russia in 1990 and they had what was called the 'Super-Ruble' in addition to the regular worthless Ruble. Sounds like they made some kind of switch , Innominate.

All what people who play in H2H want is to get that 16 player mode for cable/dsl and default 8 player mode for the dial-up people.

I was in Belarus when $1 was 20000 belarus rubels (on the blackmarket). A year later it was 40000 rubels... And I've heard it went to 80000 another year later... talk about inflation!!!
it was in '98 in case you wonder...
-
btw. did I tell you that it's illegal to exchange belarus rubels to any other currency? so if you go there, don't exchange more than you need. and get the people you're staying with to exchange the money for you, cause you get a whole lot more that way. ;) (you will be staying with someone, since you won't be let into the country otherwise)

Ummm... that's pretty damn funny. I'm curious as to where you feel connection speed has anything to do with the 8 player limit?
Seems to me that HTC cares enough about the H2H players to allow them an 8 man arena to play in... but not enough to allow a 16 man arena for them to play in. Oooo... how about they create an 16 man H2H version that they could sell you for $49.95 and never update?
You do know that HTC generates revenue by getting people to subscribe to the main arena... right? And that by making H2H arenas more appealing they could impact that revenue source?
H2H demands still crack me up.

if russians did not change their currency in 1998, 10 rubles could have been 10,000 rubles and 50 rubles could have also been 50,000 rubles.

I would like to see a 16 player h2h feature for paying subscribers only.
I don't that would really threaten the MA, but it would provide a nice added value feature to incourage people to suscribe.
I don't "think" it would be any additional bandwidth for HTC, because I believe the H2H games are running peer2peer.
16 players is just small enough for someone to host on a good machine with a fat pipe, but just big enough to actually set up private squad vs. squad matches.
Oh...and I'd also like to be able to password protect the session so while you're waiting for everyone to arrive for the match, you don't have a constant stream of idiots you have to boot because they refuse to pay attention to the "PRIVATE" disclaimer on you room description.

Wab

Just a clarification:
I'm assuming all joining or hosting a 16 player room would all have to be paying subscribers.
Non-paying subscribers could still join/host free 8 player rooms.
Wab
-
Now that's actually a pretty decent idea wab. It could serve alot of purposes such as squad practices and small get-togethers.

S! AKWabbit
Very good idea!
This could very good tool for squads when they have new members who needs a training.
Only if HTC would kindly provide for players Arena & Field Setting read rights to avoid confusion about settings.... and password for h2h room.... and Brewster... and (slap!)...
HAPPY NEW YEAR :D
