Title: New terrain should be mandantory for each new release for MA
Post by: Ripsnort on December 20, 2002, 09:25:36 AM
Thats my opinion, and I'm sticking to it.  Prevents burnout, takes the focus off of "Theres not enough in this release!" whines.

On the downside, more bugs to squash...but hey, new real Estate is always a good thing, no?

i don't suppose either of you have ever created a full blown "fair" map for the MA have ya?

takes time, lots of it.

No, but we have about 4 years worth of user-created terrains that just need alittle clean up and they're ready to go.

That's the whole point Mason I think. I'd like to see HTC put a slightly higher priority on the creation of maps and that probably means getting someone to work on them for a considerable amount of time in house, rather than supervising the community and relying on them for most of the new content.

Agree

Course you could offer a contest for our talented H2H map builders to make one for Main Arena use....oh but wait, El Presidente flamed me for "thinking of ways to spend their money".  Hmm, nevermind.

Seems like an uphill battle, Rip

Riiiight.  Call HTC and ask them how "ready" some of these maps are.  I have had this discussion with Hitech before and most of the user created maps have so many problems with them in regards to MA gameplay that it would be faster to create a new one than to try to fix the submitted one.

agreed.  And just to make the request more unreasonable, make them new terrains with new airplane skins for the different terrains. :)

The other day I accidently ventured into the CT arena and I was blown away with the map they had in there.  It was one beautiful map with a lot of obvious care put into it to make it as historical as possible.  And some of the new features they added like CV-less fleets and dirt fields just made the map even better.  I spent my time in CT just flying around looking at everything and thinking this is one map that should be added to the MA rotation after it's been tweaked to accomodate the 3 countries.

What would be so wrong about having an occasional 2 sided map thrown in as opposed to the rigid 3 country rule?

I agree Ripsnort , iF Hitech wasn't so forgetful on People that HELPED him along while he was lean and green. But QUICKLY forgot about people that helped him along.

Well HiTech?
How Quickly you forgot!!!

Ban me you ingrate!!

I would imagine it would be hard to work this in with the current three country setup.  Where would the occupants of the third country go?

We already have that. Try the CT.
