Hi. Just showing off my Klingon ship model for Orbiter.
-
Now come on where are the panel lines, and rivets?! :D:)
-
That was my first 3D model I've ever made.
-
Plans for my next ship.
A Nuclear powered Mars mission ship assembled in orbit by the Space Shuttle.
-
hmm...just got orbiter and took up a shuttle...cant do anything from there tho...looks like a good game
-
free? where download game?
-
Yup, completely free realistic space simulator.
http://www.orbitersim.com
It is designed to be easy to add ships and craft to it...somewhat. I use a free animation software utility called Anim8or to create ships for it. That is how I built that Klingon ship and a StarFury from Babalon 5 fame.
I've started to add parts of my modular Mars ship to the game already. I hope to be done by tommorow night.

Starting to come together now.
You can see I used a Shuttle Fuel Tank for the ship's fuel tank. Saves me some work making the model.
-
i cant use anim8or worth crap...
-
Good work Hans

Vorticon, then I highly, highly suggest you try the Eggplant tutorial on the Anim8or website. Don't be put off by the subject you are creating. It is learning how to do it in the first place that is the goal.
I was completely lost for a whole day after I downloaded Anim8or. I couldn't do anything.
After the eggplant tutorial opened my eyes to how the software works. Don't draw a polygon freehand, but use a simple one to start and mold/move/extrude it to get the shapes you want.
-
I cant get it to work..ill try tomorrow..
-
That is probably be because you need to download the Textures pack as well.
The game comes in TWO parts. The base file and the textures file. It is alot like WarBirds where they split up the artwork to keep the downloading down to smaller sizes for dial-up users.
-
how about a flying manual lol!
it works now lol..
-
I agree the manual that comes with the game is very, very stale. It doesn't tell you the hows or whys of what the game does. It just takes trial and error, and maybe some questions posted on the game's forum.
-
There is a good tutorial linked to from the orbiter website.
it's a step by step guide to taking off from mars, getting to orbit, and meeting up with each of mars's moons. Takes about an hour to go through.
-
i mean, how do I launch certain button and no sound?
-
http://dpolli.free.fr/Orbiter/Download.html
Sound module is there at the top, and there is a good tutorial at the bottom.
-
1 last thing how can I program keys?
Cause i cant get clearens from kennedy space center to launch..
-
These questions are more for Orbiter than Aces High. They have their own forum you could ask them on.
But, I want to help so...
1. Sound. There is no sound that comes with the normal game, but there is sound as add-ons that you can download from various websites located in the Links section of Orbitersim.com
2. There is no way to program the keyboard. This is freeware, so we're lucky just to have it at all.
3. Clearance to take off or land isn't needed anymore in this latest version. Actually, it wasn't really needed before either. Now it is a dead function though.

were can i get that free anim8tor thing so i can design my own spaceships? i really want to design stuff like that....so, were do i find it and how do i use it?
and how do i add the ships to the game
-
Anim8or has it's own website. http://www.anim8or.com as a matter of fact.
To use it with Orbiter I suggest you get used to Orbiter first, especially learning how to write your own scenario files, and then dig into how to write configuration files for ships.
To convert anim8or files into the type of files that the game uses, you need a converter program that Vinka has written. He has his own website that is mentioned in Orbiter's Links section.

I think I will do this one next
