Didnt the B5N2 have 2 peashooters upfront?

I like posts like this :)
I've got to agree, the new models, and the P51d, are beautiful. I've tried a bit of reskinning myself and humbly think this helps me to appreciate how good the new stuff is. Like everyone i've got my favourite planes i'm waiting for, but i'm not even going to mention them here; i don't care what we get in the future if it looks this great!
keep up the good work.

Neg. No pilot operated guns.
-
Learned that the hardway.. Blew up a train with the Kate and was bounced by a HellCat quickly after. I got position on him and "opened fire" to realize I was SOL. Not cool.

The one in AW was wrong then?
-
no, early versions did not have front gun
late version yes
this one is early version of Kate
-
Neither the early version or late version of the B5N had forward guns.
None.
Yes, AW was wrong.
For what its worth, we have the late version of the Kate, the B5N2.

now the noob questions.. Why would they build a wartime plane that didn't have forward firing guns?
-
to lighten weight, not enough space, resources limited, needed them for another plane, put into production to early, ect. they have many reasons not to put FF(Forward Firing) guns.some stupid some smart.the B5N im not quite sure why.maybe they had enough escorts that they didnt need them.maybe the pilot was over-worked as it was :p.ask Mitsu hell probable know...im more of a LuftWaffe,RAF,RCAF,USAF,USAAF historian.i know a little about the japanese planes but Mitsu knows way more then ill ever know.
to all

"Why would they build a wartime plane that didn't have forward firing guns?"
Mostly because it was a bomber not intended for any role which would require such guns.
