Title: 1600x1200 res don't show properly with Radeon8500
Post by: Tsingis on December 22, 2002, 01:31:28 PM
When I switch to the biggest resolution only partial view shows with a slice from the right side missing. Screenshots show a full view. I tried different graphics settings and I adjusted monitor, but no view was hidden - simply not drawn. The card is the 64MB version with latest drivers. I have all the service packs in Win2kpro with 256MB DDR RAM. Processor is AMD XP 1600+ and the mobo is Asus A7V266-E. Sound is provided by SB Audigy.

Would this be a simple driver issue or something more complex?

Monitor in use is Viewsonic PT770 17". It may be possible that it does not support the resolution.

Have you checked viewsonics website?  Besides, why do you feel you need to run a such a hi res?  Could be a driver issue, but if the screen shots are coming thru I suspect it's a monitor limitation.

Yes although the max resolution in the monitor specs is 1600x1200 it scrolls and refreshes only at 60Hz. I'm pretty convinced now that this is a monitor issue. Maybe the Santa can fix this ;)

1600 is a waste of time on a 17". Its beyond the dot pitch of your monitor. You'd be far better of running at 1280 or 1024 and a higher refresh rate.
