was there any version with a 20mm cannon for the gunner? I read in a book something that might (or might not) imply that they had a 20mm cannon in the back.

Ju87D5 had 2 20mm in place of the peashooters.
I dont think they ever put a 20mm defense on the stuka but what do I know :D

No, they didn't. In the D model they switched from the MG 15 to the MG 81Z, both in 7.92mm calibre.
