A squadie (T2MAW) had mentioned that after reviewing many sys specs he noticed many that used the Athlon processors experienced more probs than others with AH. Is there a connection to AH and it's lag and disco probs due to these processors?
More importantly, if so is there a fix?
I thought my prob was with my conexant modem. I am unable to play even Red Alert on the net w/o huge lags and then a disco from game and then an immediate boot off the net.
Does anyone else use this modem and if so have you experienced any probs with it or the processor?

Seems unlikely to me. Have used AMD for years now, very few disco's and little warping compared to most. I do have broadband and was in the same area as the server(s) with 10ms ping times. Now I have 30-40ms ping times and still little problems.
Would bet that better than 9 times of 10 discos or lag are connection related.

I use an AMD system, no problems whatsoever.
Disconnnect problems are most often caused by bad ISPs/network connections.

I have an Athlon 2100XP+ system, no problems whatsoever.
I suspect it may be system quality thats the issue.
Most 'home built' Athlon systems are built to very high standards - top end boards, video cards, memory, and cooling systems. Most prebuilt name brand Athlon systems are built using the cheapest parts out there.

Athlon XP 1800+ here w/o any problems.
Vulcan is right - homebuilt AMD setups usually have a lot of pride and effort put into them.

Had several AMD systems the last 4-5 years, built them all myself, and never had any problems whatsoever with AH.(Or anything else for that matter)

i've got 3 year old athlon 750, 56 k modem. i see some lag when the host is using 56k., but never get complaints from anyone.(and i ask all the time if i'm warping/lagging)

The CPU type isn't going to make a difference by itself.
I think Vulcan might have a point.
When it comes to connection issues there are SO MANY possible causes, but cheap modems (like in many name-brand systems) do not hold connections well. It's also generally true that V.90 connections (56k) have higher latency and often drop connections more than the older 33.6k standard.

Home built Athlon here with no connex problems.

you're right bloom.forgot to say that i usually turn my modem down to 33 when in the game.i hardly aver lose connect that way
