HTC the 163 being refueled and flown all the way across the map really sucks. Thought it was for HQ defense only.
-
Flying it around on refueling is incredibly slow.
Top speed, 300mph, max range ~25 miles. The minute you need to fight, you gotta ditch the gear and thats the end of the flight.
-
They are refueling and taking off on the landing skids. Shouldnt work but does.
-
I tried taking off from the skid and couldn't... have you actually seen them doing this. My understanding was that once the wheels were gone and you landed you had no chance of rolling again... that was it, sortie done.

The Assassins.

He said it takes about 25% of your fuel load to get it back off the ground, but it CAN be done.
I commented on this same thing the other day, was hoping the topic would die......................

Seems a silly thing to get upset over. Shoot, if someone is haveing fun spending their time flying across the country refueling every 25 miles or so, why not let them? They are after all, paying a price to do it.
Seems alot like someone is trying to "tell" on someone here for stealing their lunch money or something.
Just my unasked for, 2 cents, on the subject

Aw, come on - it's not like it's a widespread problem. Besides, nothing puts the fear of God into a 262 driver like a 163...
Taking off on the skids in my experience is pretty risky and fairly often ends in a blown up 163 (Unless there's a real technique to it). Let those who want to try it do so and put their perks on the line..
-
Half the time when I land on the skid, I lose balance and end up resting on one wingtip. It must be pretty darn tough to re-up.
-
Yeah, I tried it to see if it was possible
Depending on how you land on your skid, it's possible to take off again. I'd say about a 25% success rate
It's really tough and it takes about 5 mintes and all you get is about a half tank of fuel once you get airborne. not really worth it
if you brought the gear along tho, well thats a different story, but you can't go very fast with gear attached before they break and you're a sitting duck
-
Anyone complaining about this has obviously never tried it.
It's disgustingly slow, can take 45minutes of flying to get to what could at best be a 5 minute fight. If you happen to end up trying to go to a base that has enemies near it, you'll be lucky to land, let alone rearm.
If you're flying and run into someone in the air, you need to ditch your landing gear, and run, which ruins all of the flight time up untill then.
So sure, you can fly a 163 hopping between several bases to reach the front line, where you can get a couple of kills, and be out of there 5 minutes later.
Without landing gear, taking off in a 163 wastes a TON of fuel, and will kill you trying as often as not.
