Title: Upgrade PC = Downgrade AH?

Here's the deal. I launch up Aces high..the opening screen starts to flash a little..I log on etc..flashes a little..soon as I enter an arena. All hell breaks loose and Im seeing colors I have never even imagined lol, all in wierd polygonal, triangle,r ectangle shapes. I can barely make out chatbuffer, clipboard, and can't even tell outside the tower is a planet. I talked to Kev and Skuzzy and AkAk briefly, but still can't find the problem. Updated all my video drivers, motherrboard drivers, sound drivers, etc. if anyone has ANY idea's, please respond :(

Specs:

Windows 2000 Professional Edition(version 5.00.2195)
MSI KT3 Ultra Motherboard  KT333 Chipset Based (Hyperion4in1 drivers)
AMD Athlon 1300+ Processor
GeForce2 MX 400 64 MX (Win2000/XP 30.82 drivers - the Detonate ones)
DirectX 9.0 (was running 8.1b but still same errors)
SB Live! (Newest drivers)
256MB RAM


I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, reformatting(4 times) , etc.. I don't know what to do. Please help =(

..or...just simply post here..I'll be on this board 24/7 until I fix this :) Im off for 2 weeks.

Also, if you want my DxDiag test results, ask (I tested everything, all tests successful - no problems found anywhere, and all drivers WHQL)

I also tryed deleting the video7.cfg, and rerunning AH after updating drivers, deleting drivers, goin to VGA etc etc..I just...don't know what to do :(

Oh..by the way..when it asked me for my new vid setup after deleting the video7.cfg, it asked me to select my video card. The only option was Primary Display Device//Through Windows......

well, should it say that or list my GeForce card? Im ignorant, Im in TX. Forgive me :)

I thought AH wouldn't work with DX8.0??? Get this fellas... I think "Well..darn.. if AH doesn't work on the new stuff..Ill go stone-age" ..

I get the DX Buster...put DX8.0 on my system, and downgrade my GeForce2 MX400 to 21.83 .....   Instead of up to 30.82.  

And voila.. AH Runs like a CHARM. Thanks for the advice those of you who helped :) Guess we were goin in wrong direction.

Make sure you have at least SP2 installed in win2k also. That fixed the directx problems I've had in AH and other games.

Oops, sorry about that. :)

You could also try service pack 3 if 2 doesn't fix it (tho it should). I just dont like the service agreement that comes with 3.

You might try turning of "Paletized Textures" (sp) in the video setup of the game.  I was getting the ellisDee inspired video before I did that.
