Dunno if this has been posted but I have a photo of the tunnel gun from the maintenance manual. I have some more, 1 from the stowed position and some angles of fire. Really would like to get this postion put into the game.

seen as not many people know what the compartment with the bottom rear gun on an a20 looked like, and Superfly made it look like something that doesn't look alot like it, would anybody know, or care?

It's ben posted before, They know about it, They said the reasion it was not modeled to begine with was he did not have a pick of it, a few months ago their were pictures posted of it. I was a little disapointed not to see it in 1.11.

I'll repost my find too. This is the .30 version, but I believe the .50 was the same except for the weapon.

Dnil! Great posts.

forgot to add, all info was supplied by the Lone Star flight Museum in Galveston Texas. The A-20 they have doesn't have the ventral gun installed, matter of fact they didn't know about it till I requested the info. The armament guy their says he thinks the .50 would shake apart the mount, but they might have had the .30 mount instead of the .50.
This week I will head back over to the Navy museum and see what manuals and photos they have in the library.

oh mistu, would ya like to see some photos of the N1K thats at the museum? she has combat time, flown by an 11 kill ace to. Pretty rare bird.
-
Dnil, any way you can get photos of the inside of that compartment?
-
the one at Lone star doesn't have one, was never put in during the restoration. I should say, she was taken out long ago. I think Kermit Weeks has one, I might see what he has.
Plus I'll see what the museum has as far as photos.

That compartment wasnt empty even without the gun there. I'm talking about the inside of the plane there, not just the gun position. IIRC, the bottom gunner was also the navigator.
Looking at some of the pictures give a bit of an idea of what it looked like, it would be nice to see some good photos of the inside of the plane.

Good Stuff.
Did any of you read the rest, on page 83
"Two Type M-2 Fixed .50 Cal machine guns and four fixed type M-2 20mm aircraft cannon installed in nose section for AAF 42-53535 to AAF 42-53785..."
Where can I get me one of those:eek:
60rds per 20mm gun

I was talking about the Lone Star A-20 in particular, believe she was used as a transport or hack aircraft, can't seem to recall. I might be confusing my planes also. If I remember she is flyable, but no one is checked out on her and I think she is either sold or for sale. Only thing inside her is the cockpit, gun positions are pretty much empty.
Again, this is going off memory, been awhile since I dealt with it.

ok, no dice from the Navy Museum, it was a long shot but took my chances. Got a few more sources I am trying now. I picked up a bunch of TBM info that might be interesting, some loadout options we don't have plus the turret is not modelled correctly. I'll post when i get done scanning.

Well I did hit a gold mine for Navy aircraft. Nothing like looking through documents from 1942. I am researching VF-15 for a possible publication. Found a bunch of good stuff for them. After Action reports, letters to and from just about everwhere and some letters from David McCampbell about his specific aircraft. I'll post the TBM and "Minsi III" info ASAP.
