ht, ever thought about removing hit sprites?
i know it's been brought up before, i'm just curious as to what it would change as far as gameplay
-
It will bring up more spray and pray
-
Can't bring up more spray and pray then there currently is. Make hit sprites more realistic and smaller.
-
Maybe little puffs if u shot HE ammo and nothing when u shot normal ammo.
And maybe plane parts fallin off.

We already have that. I think removing hit sprites would make the spray and prayers (and who doesn't spray and pray every now and again) LESS accurate because they wouldn't know when they landed a hit. Plus they'd dump their ammo that much quicker. Besides, you think every WWII pilot shot 100%?
-
that's what i was thinking - it would make those long range kills a lot tougher if you didnt know you were hitting the other guy
-
It would make my short range kills pretty hard as I have the CHS thingy going.

Don't know if it was a bug or what, But once I was in a P47 with about 147 shots remaining, I dove in on 190 got a full deflection shot on him at d200 and I could see those teeny little hitsprites(like when you use mgs on tanks) as well as a mix of large normal ones as well it was pretty cool when it happened. Wonder if they could fix it so mgs give those little ones, and cannons give normal ones like now, and BFGs give an increased sprite.
-
Don't remove hit sprites... fix them please.
Currently, 7.62mm MG has bigger hit sprites than an 88mm HE round.
We could surely use some better hit effects. Even AW had debris falling off when you shot at the enemy planes. It was done with simple polygons (usually triagle) that would shoot off in mutiple directions when you scored a hit.
-
I occassionally see debris falling off, when Im close enough.
The effects of debris falling off in IL2 are way cool. Lots of little bits and smoke puffs coming off from hit sprites.
-
Use the particle base system to create hit graphics appropriate for the weapon doing the hitting.
A .303 should not look the same as a 30mm, nor should it's strike be visible at 1000 yards.
The particle graphics added in 1.10 could be used for better hit representation. I think this would be a significant improvement in AH air combat.

i like WWIIOL's system AP might make a small grey cloud and HE or cannon fire explodes with a red and black coud its the same in air or on the ground and looks really cool when a 109 is chas'n a spit low and zoom over you and all you see is lil explosions on the spit
i flew a spit 1 time and got alot of fire from a 109 and i crash landed in a tree and when the camera circled around me there where black smudges where the 20mm shells hit
and if it was like that it would force ppl to get closer to land good shots instead of a plane on your high 6 landing hits at d1000 or whatever it would make ppl get close thus starting a thing called "turning" and ppl will actually save ammo for better hits if they arnt sure if they will land a hit or land a useless hit
and if HT updated the lighting effects it would look really cool at night with 20mms exploding on your eng and the area around the hit lights up
-
im not too good at this but this is kinda what it would be like :)
-
or this
-
No HE - no hit sprite. IMHO.
-
hmm, maybe AP should make what look like sparks on SOME of the hits
and if we do get debris, wouldn't it be cool if there was the chance of sucking some of it up in your engine(s) and damaging it/them?
-
Non he rounds do have a definate hit spite..
Incinderary rounds flash when they hit. Quite noticibly I believe.
When you see gun camera of a Jug hitting a 109 you see the hit sprites..That look seems to be what HT was after in the game..is it perfect..no.
But its wrong to think that only HE rounds had visible hit indicators. Most counties used rounds that flashed on hits even in thier AP rounds..

lolol...HTC could make it look great.....but half of these guys in this game have crappy video cards and slow bellybutton proccesors....So intill we all get top notch rides...We cant have the best graphics possible......sniffle sniffle...
Yes i want wires and crap flailing in the wind....ailerons flapping around beating your fuel tanks up....
I cant wait...every year it gets bettr:)
Hit Sprites...ummmm...yes they are quit big somtimes...but my small bellybutton screen (17 inches).. i need them..lolo:(
Love BiGB

I agree totally that they need to be reworked. I for one will miss most shots if HT changes them to be more realistic, but I want that. But don't take them away, because in guncams you can still see them, just not as bright or big as theya re here. Seems that different ammo has different visuals in real life, I know small arms does :-)

oh yea almost forgot about this if you want them changed then change them
-
i havent tested them so i dont know what they do so dont bug me about them if they dont work
-
... and what do we do with these bmp files ?
-
Does anyone have gun camera footage that shows non HE rounds (e.g. .50s) hitting at 1000 yards distance; and how this footage compares to the naked eye?
-
I've seen AP rounds hit, cannon HE rounds hit, and the famous Hurricane vs C.202 clip where the Breda-Safat machine guns which fire HE included shells hit.
When AP rounds hit, it seems they give off a short, small, bright white spark simular to what we have in AH. They are small, and disappear real quick.
When HE cannon shells or the Breda-Safat shells hit, they give off a large explosion with smoke with smoke, it seems.

What's the maximum visibile range of those flashes?
