Title: Anyone here tried the 2.02 software for the Cougar?
Post by: Reschke on December 27, 2002, 12:10:51 AM
Just curious since I can not get it to install my Cougar properly and I have run through the setup suggested over on Cougar World. My stick works fine with the 1.04 software but I want to be able to use Revvins profile and have the WEP situated on the throttle without having to use macro buttons.

Reschke the new drivers have worked fine on my system and I've not had any problems at all. The new THR_RANGE command is much easier then a string of messy LOCK and UNLOCK commands. I unistalled everything first, Cougar Drivers and FOXY and started afresh. Installed the Cougar drivers v2.02 then FOXY version 3 then flashed my stick with the new firmware and it all went smoothly.

I took the same steps Revvin and I can not get past having the following error message pop up.

"There was a Problem installing this hardware.

HOTAS Cougar Data In

An error occured during the installation of the device A service installation section in this INF is invalid."

I get that for both the Data In and the Data Out parts of the Cougar and nothing I have tried seems to correct it. I went to CW and tried every fix they have posted over there for this and nothing changes other than the naming of the inf files that are wrong for the Cougar 2.02 software.

I will get through this tonight or go to sleep trying.

Yep Revvin I am running WinXP Home with SP1 installed on it. Like I mentioned I went down the list as "DuraAce" over on the CW boards suggested in a thread where another guy was having issues. According to DuraAce he runs WinXP and was able to do the same thing and get it running.

I hope you get it running, I asked about SP1 because after installing SP1 (full download version) on my system my Cougar drivers would not install (v1.04 drivers) It was around the time I give my system a clean out anyway so I formatted my C: drive and re-instaleld Windows. After re-installing I used the XP update and installed SP1 express install and then installed my Cougar stuff and it worked ok. Like I said I had this problem installing the old Cougar drivers on an SP1 XP system.

I guess I was the exact opposite because I had no trouble with the old Cougar stuff and SP1. I did the express install also but I can't seem to force the inf files that come with 2.02. I hope that they get a quick little fix out aside from telling everyone to delete the oemXX.inf files that pop up; because each time I delete them and try to install the Cougar in 2.02 the oem inf files keep coming back.
