can A.H. add a hardware T&L (transformation, clipping and lighting) support for those who are using video cards that features T&L? T&L feature will give this game game xtra polygons and therefore making the game look smoother.

????????????????????????????????????????????????

Ah huh.

ike arent a h2h tard? you make an awefully lot of requests of a game you dont even pay for.

exactly ...lolol wotan

Don't even mention that I thinks its already included in AH. Ofcourse I could be the tard in that comment  But isn't T&L how they added the gun flash lighting?

I think so to booky and wasnt really addressing what he asked but since he started on the board he has made numerous requests for what he wants from ah and yet he doesnt even shell out the .50 cents a day to pay for it.

WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! go research about T&L because u seem to know nothing about it.

???CAN WE HAVE SHUT U P FORE IKE 2K #!!@@!?????????

Im surprised Hitech hasen't removed the H2H all together over this moron who is going to ruin it for all those other poor people who can't get a account for whatever reason.
Ike, tell your momma and poppa to up your allowance so you can have some fun.
Until then, stop wasting our bandwidth:mad:
I pay so I can post stupid stuff here, you don't pay, so don't post stupid stuff.

LoL, ok you want to get technical? Hardware T&L does not enable any new features, to my knowledge these are made possible through Direct X and the chip on the video card.
All that Hardware T&L does is move the processing of the transform and lighting data to the Video card instead of the main CPU, freeing up the CPU to do other things. This is designed for games and programs that need lots of CPU power for AI and such.
Now as I stated above, I may be wrong with this, but I doubt it. SO before you go rant your little tech talk then make sure you know what YOU are asking for and how to apply it to the game.

Cut him some slack. He's probably about 11 years old.

You are pretty much right Booky. I'll even add, if the video card lacks the processing power of the main CPU, then the use of hardware T&L will reduce game performance.
For instance, if you have a 1.8Ghz (or faster) Northwood P4, there is only one video card on the market that has a GPU fast enough to make sense using T&L, and that is the ATI9700Pro, everything else is too slow, as compared to the CPU.
-
Skuzzy, if all the cpu had to do was poly manipulation and rendering I'd agree with your last statement. However, it has to divide it's time with other functions such as object positional calculations, etc....
Nvidia produced hardware T&L years before CPUs were up to 1.8GHz and I don't recall that it reduced performance. I also doubt they did it for no purpose other than marketing.
Just realized that Skuzzy was refering to cpus over 1.8ghz. Hadn't considered that.

Actually Iron, NVidia's first true hardware T&L cards were the GF4's. Previous cards did not have an onboard T&L unit, but were actually software driven on the card.
And yes,..if the CPU is very slow, the use of T&L could make a difference.
Displacement mapping in DX9 actually provides a good reason to use T&L in some instances. Unfortunately, ATI's 9700Pro is the only DX9 card which has support for it and the NVidia NV30 (FX) does not.
So it will be some time before any developers look at that technology.
Not to say DX9 support will be a ways out. I suspect DX9 support to come faster than DX8 support did, due to the new shader technology and the use of full floating point color.

Why wish for more polygons? The game can use them only in the plane renderings. Those (at least the latest ones) are pretty good already and more polygons in a plane are wasted when it's flying by you at such a rate you can't see it. AH could use way, way more polygons in the terrain, but the games engine is hard coded to accept polygons no finer than 1/2 mile on a side. It's impossible to make terrains with any higher resolution than what already exists.
I didn't know that Nvidia had pulled the wool over everyone's eyes so successfully and got us to pay $300 every year or so for technology that is actually useless and would slow our games down if we turned it on. I guess they're clever little devils.
