nice graphics in WW2 Fighters, but flight model I heard was arcadeish. Maybe I will download the demo now just for fun...

What is that?  The view of the pilot who forgot his parachute?

(Fighter pilots sat on their parachutes, for those who don't know)

We could have more detailed and accurate cockpits with the existing engine, this was done without increasing texture size (picture below from this (http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=66172) thread)

But, to bring each existing plane even to that level would probably require as much work and research as adding an entire new plane to the game - probably not a popular idea! It would also make the game download a hell of a lot bigger and might be wasted work if there is a new engine on the way in the next year or so.

Even with the existing engin, those textures could be brought up to 256*256, and the 3D cockpit models could be made a lot more detailed and cluttered - with throttles, dials etc. (as has been done with some of the more recent additions) -  they could be beautiful! But this would cause framerate problems for a fair chunk of the AH community, without adding anything in a pure Air Combat sense. Not to say I don't love eye candy just as much as everyone else :)

i prefer to have a uncluttered cockpit in wich i can read EVERYTHING rather than messing about with a pan cam or something toejamty like that just to see my airspeed altitude etc

Gotta agree with you there Vorticon. I'm waiting for the day when we all have 3D VR headsets with super high res so that we can look around realistically, glancing at the dials, scanning the sky, etc.

I'm waiting for the day I have enough money to buy an other joystick, mine has the rudder build into it and it affects the aileron-movements.....

any suggestion how to change this? (and NOT with a large hammer)

I used to play WB2.xx in 2D mode because it worked better (for some reason I got rubber bullets with 3d.)

So yes, at least I'm prepared to sacrifice a 'little' eye candy for better flight / combat performance.

If you want to skin a cockpit you must do it in the map editor, its part of the map itself.

You will find them from "savedtex" folder which should be located at AHEDITOR\terrains\savedtex. But first you have to export plane textures with AH terrain editor, open ahedit.exe ,select Objects ,select shape from the list and click Save Texture...
