Title: Reworking the reset reward system
Post by: mkuebeler on December 29, 2002, 05:56:12 PM
Under the current system, the winning side gets a modest number of perk points (Is it constant?  Never really paid attention), and the other two sides get zilch, although they probably worked and fought just as hard, if not harder, than the side that won the reset.

How about this?  Each side gets some amount of perk points after a reset depending on where they placed.   Each side's base points would be a function of planes shot down and planes lost, scaled to fall between a set minimum and maximum value.  Then apply a multiplier, with winning side getting the highest multiplier, the reset side getting the lowest.

LOL!

Give 200 bish and 150 knits both perk points for jointly resetting 100 rooks. Great idea!

Your method removes the incentive for the second place team to fight the first place team.

The second place team relieves pressure from the last place team because they slow down fight with number three and cause the first place team to defend, also slowing attack on number three.

If everyone benifits its just a pig pile 'til the end.

Give the winning team 30 perks, the losing team 15, and the middle team zilch.

Winning is good, losing is okay, doing nothing(or just helping the reset along) is the worst outcome.

(note:  This is a pure brain-fart, no consistancy, practicality, or intellligence behind it is guarenteed)

But then you'd have sides actually TRYING to lose.  How ridiculous that would be!

I don't know, I think people basically like to win and hate to lose, regardless of the prize, and would continue to do what they do now.  Only difference would be that everyone has something to show for their effort when the dust has settled.  The second place team will still have more to gain by attacking the first place team to close the lead in bases in the hopes of pulling ahead just before the end.  Unless, of course, the map is Pizza, in which case I suspect the primary incentive is usually to reset that ugly f*cker as quickly as possible, i.e. pig pile the weakest country. :)

Hate to say it but being on the lossing team actually works out better. Two nights in a row I have earned more perks for kills during defending when multiplyer was in favor of loosing side than if we would have won.
