Why is it possible to fly through the fireball of an exploding aircraft without any damage whatsoever while little bushs and parachutes instantly squish you like a bug?
I propose that flying through a fireball or other wreckage should have a significant effect on the structural integrity of your aircraft. In short, you should take damage which in most cases would be fatal.
IMO this would greatly increase the chance of your opponent deciding to break earlier during HO's. Currently we have people firing headon at less then 100yards. Obviously hoping that you will blow up first and they'll fly through the fiery furball magically untouched or two you'll break first giving up position and allowing them to rake your aircraft as you cross their sights (again probably blowing up with little damage to them).
This will also have a significan't impact on vulching as well as both friendly and enemy aircraft would be affected. No more 10ft, 50 yard vulch sprays on taxing aircraft.
The one adverse effect I can perceive however, is that people like laz.. errr untalented people would find it considerably difficult to get kills given that they would'nt be able to HO or fly through +1000 degree fireballs.

what about some more damamge modelling..... i doubt all the planes in ww2 wings broke off cleanly all the time....
Also trees should NOT KILL YOU. Why does having your wing hit a tree BLOW YOU UP??
also i would like to see some crash damage. Realistic damage modelling is so COOL!!!!

Pye,
Didn't you just quit??? Are you doing a "Ram"?

"Why is it possible to fly through the fireball of an exploding aircraft without any damage whatsoever.."
Easy. Most times I avoid the enemy debri. And that's only if I didn't get a clean pilot kill. Occasionaly I've lost parts, wings, wing tips, engine etc etc from hittine some part of thier plane during the explosion.
"while little bushs and parachutes instantly squish you like a bug?"
They don't effect me that way at all. Course I fly and drive with my eyes open.

What makes you think that hitting a tree in a air craft wouldnt destroy it?
Please explain this, im really intrested to know.

Hey maverick, this post was before he quit.

Am0n being destroyed and exploding are two different things.

Ahh i misenturpreted it then.. hes saying he would like to flip flop around the air and smash into the ground then?
For some reason i read it as him saying that it wouldnt kill the plane, like it could keep on flying with minimal or no damage.

Actually, I think that this is a valid point. As it is, the only thing that damages you in a collision are parts that are still connected to the main airframe.
AFAIK, you can fly right through the severed wing of a B-17 as it falls to the ground, but if you collide with a wing still attached to the fuesalage, you take damage.
Shrapnel damage would be a nice addition. Hitting busted A/C parts would be a nice addition.
Taking fire damage from flying through explosions would be a nice addition.
Having fireballs and explosions causing turbulence would be nice.
Having propwash effects would be cool too.
The current system is great. It does however allow for more HOs and close proxcimity kills with no danger of damage from exploding A/C / GV targets.

LOL.. it really bothers poor ol pyegote that I survive as well or better than he does but get my kills in half the time and, in a -1a of all things.. Yeah, when you fly a -1a with those super guns you take every HO shot you can against those weak gunned spits, 38's, 190's, typhoons , niks, lags and hurri's not to mention P47's and zekes...
pygote.. you are an idiot... if i had anything at all to do with your leaving then, everyone here owes me.... big time.
Sheesh... texans doing wacky mime imitations and aussies turning in their guns like frieghtened little girls... what is the world coming to?

No need to degenerate to WW2OL style posting Lazs. The forums there are absolutely horrible. As for colliding with exploded planes, I think that the engine, wings, foward and rear fuselauge should all cause damage if you hit them. I dont agree with trees killing you instantly either. Especially if you just brush across the tops of them.

fdiron.. look at his post. He brought me into it with his silly bull.
I was just pointing out that if I am untalented then he must be even worse. If I am an HO dweeb in a -1 Hog and use the HO to rack up kills then... I must be a lot more talented than I think I am. I have never or, very seldom, flew through debris from an exploding plane (-1's don't explode planes in the HO) and the only explosions were from killing planes that were in front of me. I believe that most of those were from "pilot kills" and should not cause debris in any case.
Maybe you cannon guys are seeing a lot more close range explosions than me but it seems lke a very small thing in any case. In the arena I see two people head on each other and the exposion of one, or both, seems to be after they have passed each other.
Why do chutes explode after I kill em?

If it were a clean explosion, I'd think the safest place to fly would be directly through the center of it. How much damage could occur from a split second flythru? I doubt that much.
-
It would be nice when you get shot (http://www.duhspot.com/users/smiley/s/otn/violent/awing.gif) and bail you see the plane crashing to the ground with smoke and flames coming from it.

Ya can Madmax....oops wrong forum.
-
Hey! No making fun of aussies or we wont come win wars for you anymore. Or make cool cars like the Leyland P-76 or deadly planes like the Boomerang.

Didnt HTC say they were hoping to implement that feature in the future, madmax? I remember them talking about it some time ago. I think...
